Monica Judith Skiffington July 27, 1936 - April 19, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Monica Judith Skiffington on April 19, 2025, at Dr. Albert O’Mahoney Manor in Clarenville, surrounded by the love of her family. She was 88 years old.

Monica was predeceased by her beloved husband of 68 years, Oliver Skiffington; her parents, Beryl and Joseph Palmer; and her siblings: Charles (Annabelle), Lydia (Tom), Garrett, William (Charlotte), Reginald (Lillian), Verna Pye, Ewan Palmer, and Edgar Hancock.

Survived by sister Kate Hancock and sister-in-law Ester Palmer.

She leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and kindness, carried on through her devoted family. She will be deeply missed by her children: Cynthia Skiffington (Lou),  Kim Skiffington (Betty), Valerie Holloway (Dennis), Rowena Holloway (Garfield), Mary Menchenton (Laurie),and Jason Skiffington (Melissa). Also left to mourn are her beloved 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

A woman of deep roots and quiet strength, Monica found joy in the simple pleasures of life. Her garden was her sanctuary, where she cultivated both vegetables and beauty—growing everything from hearty potatoes to delicate flowers with care and pride. Her green thumb was well-known and admired by all who knew her.

Monica also dedicated many years to knitting for Nonia, creating countless gloves, hats, and warm memories with her nimble hands. Her craftsmanship and generosity brought comfort to many and reflected the warmth she carried in her heart.  Her memory will live on in the lives she touched and the love she gave so freely.

Public visitation will take place at Fewer’s Funeral Home in Lethbridge on April 22, 2025 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral service to celebrate Monica’s life will be held at Musgravetown United Church on April 23, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. All are welcome to attend.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to a charity of ones choice.

She will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed.
