David Garfield Jacobs September 2, 1949 - July 4, 2026

The family of David Garfield Jacobs is deeply saddened to announce his sudden passing on July 4th, 2026. David lived a life filled with laughter, generosity, and love for the outdoors. He passed away at Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital in Clarenville surrounded by loved ones.

David was born in Little Hearts Ease in 1949, a community that was always ‘down home’ to him and one that he loved to visit often. He and his wife Cora loved their extended visits to Labrador, visits to a friend’s cottage in Terra Nova, and being down by the water in Clarenville in their mobile trailer. In recent days when Cora moved to a senior’s residence, the loneliness was evident as he adjusted to a dierent life on his own.

David was predeceased by his parents Raymond and Minnie Jacobs.

Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife Cora (nee Hayter) of 30 years; children Regina Jacobs (Jeff Lambe); step sons James Penney and Robert Penney; grandchildren Ryan Jacobs, Reign Jacobs-Lambe and Trinity Penney (step-granddaughter); sisters Ivy Simmons (Eddie Warner), Juanita/Jeanette Jacobs and Sheila Goobie (Allister); brothers Victor (Margaret), Austin, Byron (Mary) and Kevin (Michelle); uncle George Green, aunt Irene & uncle Bronson Rideout; and a large circle of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Resting at Fewer’s Funeral Home, Clarenville.  Visitation 7-9 p.m. on Thursday July 16, 2026.  Celebration of life service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, July 17, 2026 at Calvary Pentecostal Church, Clarenville (14 Trinity Cresent) with interment to follow at Pleasant Street Cemetery, Clarenville. Following the committal refreshments and fellowship will be held at Calvary Pentecostal Church, Clarenville. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Salvation Army Food Bank, 281 Balbo Drive, Clarenville, NL, A5A 4C4.

We would like to express a deep gratitude to ALL who may have been with David in those final moments and hours. From the first responders, and especially to the E. R. Team, under the expert and compassionate care of Dr. Hannah Milley. “TO EACH OF YOU,THANK YOU FOR BEING ‘AT THE READY’ FOR SUCH TIMES AS THESE. THANK YOU FOR BEING COMFORT AND HOPE TO OUR PRECIOUS LOVED ONE. IN OUR EYES YOU ARE ‘ANGELS AMONG US’.”

We take these days to celebrate his life, and to remember what he meant to those who loved him most.  Thank you for continued prayers for our family in this time.

Celebration of life service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, July 17, 2026 at Calvary Pentecostal Church, Clarenville (14 Trinity Cresent) with interment to follow at Pleasant Street Cemetery, Clarenville.
