It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our dear loved one on February 1, 2021 at Dr. G B Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville with family by his side. Leaving to mourn with loving memories his wife of 56 years, Rosalie; children Roger (Elizabeth), Corner Brook, Rhonda (Jeff Feltham), Badgers Quay, Russell, Lethbridge, Blair (Jennifer), Paradise, Jamie, St. John’s and Patti (Peter Matthews), Meadows; grandchildren Jessica (James Cox), Jonathan Feltham, Joshua King, Meghan King, Madison King, Jacey, Jayla and Jaden Matthews, Rylan and Jenson King; great granddaughters Mia Feltham and Lexi Cox; brothers Edgar Bon King (Joan) and Horace Junior King (Bernadette) of Wesleyville; and a large circle of family and friends who will miss him dearly. He is predeceased by his parents Mildred and Horace King; sister-in-law Ann King; brothers-in-law Clyde King and Everett Howse. Resting at Fewer’s Funeral Home, Clarenville on Tuesday, February 2 from 7-9 p.m. and Wednesday, February 3 from 10 a.m. to Noon, 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 p.m. with Covid Guidelines in place. Funeral service will take place on Thursday, February 4, 2021 at Fewer’s Memorial Chapel by Invitation Only with interment to follow at Clarenville Interdenominational Cemetery. In his memory flowers gratefully accepted or donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
“King” as he was lovingly referred to by family and friends met and married his one true love in 1964. Together they had six children who often throughout his life drew from his strength and determination. He had the best outlook on life and saw positive in everything and everyone – even during his illness. He spent the majority of his teaching career as principal of L R Ash in Lethbridge and retired at the age of 47. Many of his students continued to stay in touch with him over the years and still referred to him as Mr. King. Retirement was not a part of his vocabulary so he pursued a pastime as an insurance agent where he spent many hours driving around the Island with his wife by his side. In 2013 they finally retired and moved to Thorburn Lake where he enjoyed the outdoors and many family gatherings. In January 2020 they moved to Clarenville where he continued to enjoy family and friends.
