It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Sandra Bennett who peacefully passed away surrounded by her family on August 5, 2026 at the age of 69 years.
Born on December 11, 1956 in Deer Lake, NL Sandra (Sis) made her home in Clarenville where she built a life centered around family, friendship and caring for others.
Sandra will be remembered as a strong-willed and determined woman whose stubborn streak was matched by her generous heart. She was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need and would do anything she could to make life a little easier for those around her. Her kindness, loyalty and caring nature touched many lives.
Sandra shared a special and loving relationship with her cherished partner Ian Fotheringham whose love and companionship brought her great happiness.
Predeceased by her parents Marjorie and Joseph Bennett. Left to cherish her memory are her sons Steven Smith and Mitchell Smith; her beloved grandchildren Hailey Smith, Tenna Downey-Smith and Carter Smith; her sister Diane (Dexter) Baggs; brothers Todd (Vinci) Bennett, Terry (Audrey) Bennett, Gary (Velma) Bennett, Mark (Roberta) Bennett and special sister-in-law Pamela McKinnon along with many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. A special place in Sis’s heart was reserved for her niece, Deidre, whose unwavering love and support brought her comfort and joy throughout her life.
Sandra’s family extends their heartfelt gratitude to her health care team for the exceptional care, compassion and dignity they provided throughout her journey. Your kindness and unwavering support brought great comfort to Sandra and to all who loved her. A special thank you is also extended to the dedicated home care workers who continue to care for Ian with such compassion and respect. Your ongoing support has been an immeasurable comfort to our family and we will always be grateful for the kindness you have shown to both Sandra and Ian.
In keeping with Sandra’s wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation or funeral service. Her family encourages those who knew and loved her to remember her in their own special way and to continue to support the Salvation Army and local food bank in her memory .
Though she is no longer with us, Sandra’s love, strength and compassionate spirit will remain forever in the hearts of all who knew her.
