In the early hours of Sunday April 7th we were again reminded how quick this wonderful experience we call life can take a turn. Jessie Ruth Thomas (nee Fry) passed suddenly in Clarenville NL at the age of 80. Predeceased by her Husband Douglas Thomas of Hodges Cove NL; her parents Edgar Fry and Nellie Oldford of Charleston. Her brothers Harold (Violet), Phillip (Delilah), Calvin (Annie), and David (Joan); her sisters Margaret (Melvin) and Phylis (Brethal).
Left with her quick wit, kind heart, great sense of humour and a touch of temper, her Sons: Douglas (Melanie), Larry (Jennifer), Dale (Karen) and Eddie (Melissa); Grand Children: Mitchell (Jessica), Kody, Rachael (Daniel), Julia (Ethan), Caelam, Reilly, Malakai, Erin, Zaira and Great Granddaughter Anazaria; Also left behind two dear friends of recent years, Blanche March and Bertha Strickland and her special friend Gord Lambert. Family meant the world to our Mom, and Mom meant the world to her family.
Resting at Fewer’s Funeral Home, Clarenville. Visitation on Wednesday, April 10 from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 p.m. and at the Anglican Church, Hodge’s Cove on Thursday morning from 10 a.m. – Noon. Funeral service 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 11, 2024 at the Anglican Church, Hodge’s Cove with interment to follow at the Anglican Cemetery, Hodge’s Cove. I remember waiting on the dock in Baie Comeau, the ferry was late, Ruth & Doug were there in their trailer waiting for the same ferry. They saw me there & came over to invite me to share lunch with them. We had tea, crackers & sandwiches & a few laughs. That was something I have never forgotten.

April 9, 2024 at 11:30 pmOur condolences to all the family. We feel for your loss, and know that a powerful force is now missing from your lives. Our thoughts are with you all.
Farewell, girl. We’ve had a few laughs along the way, a few drinks, a few meals, some good times and some difficult times. We understand a lot of things about each other. We shared three wonderful grandchildren, so that has been our forever connection. Every now and then I’ll think back and smile, remembering some of the chats we had. Rest easy. They’ll all be okay.
