Roy Janes April 12, 1947 - August 8, 2026

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Abram (Roy) Janes on August 8, 2026 at Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville, NL at the age of 79.

Roy was a devoted husband, father and grandfather whose kind heart and gentle spirit left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. He was a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) and started his career as an auditor with the Auditor General Department of the Government of NL and from there, worked with the Federal Business Development Bank until 1981 when he started his own accounting firm in both Catalina, Bonavista and later in Labrador City, NL. His daughter Jenine carries on his legacy with the accounting firm in Labrador City. He was very intelligent and loved a good challenging file with his accounting and taxation clients.

Roy’s passion was trouting, cutting firewood and moose hunting with his sons. He also enjoyed his cars and was often seen at the dragstrip with his sons. It was normal to find him with his head under the bonnet working on the car for the big race. He enjoyed his motorcycle as well until his eyesight prevented him from motorcycling. Roy had a strong faith and felt such peace when participating in Mass and receiving the Eucharist.

Leaving to cherish his memory and celebrate a life well-lived is his devoted wife of 53 years Genevieve (Genny), his loving sons Adrian (Lisa), Corey (Kendra), Dean and his daughter Jenine (Tommy) as well as his treasured grandchildren, Madison, Morgan (Aaron), Kelsey (Samuel), Avery, Alyssa, Kyra, Quinn and his youngest grandson, Damien who he spent numerous precious moments with over the past 7 years. He also leaves behind his 2 nephews, Harry Dewling and Eric (Karen) Coleridge, his great nephews, Benjamin Coleridge, Stephen King and Paul King and his great nieces Susan (Jason) and Nancy (Jim).

Resting at Fewer’s Funeral Home in Clarenville, NL on Wednesday, August 12, 2026 from 2:00pm-4:00pm and 7:00pm-9:00pm. The Funeral Mass will take place at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Clarenville, NL on Thursday, August 13, 2026 at 12:00pm. Cremation and interment will take place at a later date.

Flowers are gratefully accepted and donations in Roy’s memory can be made to Our Lady of Fatima Church in Clarenville, NL.

We would like to thank Dr. Sheikh, Dr. Zahra Banaz Adeh, Dr. Gordon, Dr. Agirab and the many nurses and staff who showed such kindness and compassion to Roy during his month in hospital.

Mass will take place at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Clarenville, NL on Thursday, August 13, 2026 at 12:00pm. Cremation and interment will take place at a later date.
