Ronald Freeman Chatman February 18, 1946 - February 5, 2021

Passed away in the presence of his loving family after a short illness at Dr. G B Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville, Ronald Freeman Chatman of Canning’s Cove, aged 74 years. Predeceased by his parents Theresa and Joseph Chatman; sister Brenda Chatman Tucker and brother David Chatman. Leaving to mourn his sad loss are sisters Jessie Chatman, O’Mahony Manor, Clarenville, Mabel Crocker, Glovertown, Minnie Roach, Clarenville Retirement Centre, Judy Pike (Hayward), Charleston, Ada Brown, Musgravetown, Betty Chatman (Dave Dawe), Upper Gullies; brothers Donald (Linda), Canning’s Cove, Joseph (Irene), Clarenville; sister-in-law Rosalie Chatman, Canning’s Cove; brother-in-law Lester Tucker, Clarenville; Also his loving partner Keer and his family in Thailand and numerous nieces, nephews and friends near and far. Cremation will take place and a Memorial Service will be held at a later date.

Freeman or “Simon” as he was known grew up in Canning’s Cove, attended University and became a teacher. He taught in many places in Newfoundland, the coast of Labrador, Nova Scotia and he spent the majority of his teaching years in British Columbia. After retirement he relocated to Thailand where he spent many happy years with his partner Keer. Simon was an avid painter and writer of poems and children’s books.

Gone but not forgotten, you are so loved and sadly missed. May the Lord hold you forever in his arms – until we meet again.

Cremation will take place and a Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
