Passed on Sunday, September 14, 2025 at Dr. O’Mahony Manor, after a long struggle with dementia, Rex Grenfell Hansford of Shoal Harbour, age 75 years.
Predeceased by his natural parents Irene and Enoch Green; his adopted parents Hazel and Jack Hansford; his angel child Natasha Suzette Hansford; mother and father in law Una and Clarence Thistle and brother in law Robert Ledrew of Bishop’s Falls. Also a number of various past aunts, uncles and cousins.
Left to mourn his loving wife Shirley and his daughter Heather; twin brother Ross Green (Edwina) of Shoal Harbour, brother Andy Stoyles (Elsie) of Gander, sisters Verlie Ledrew of Bishop’s Falls and Denise Churchill (Woodrow) of Alberta; brother and sister in law Roy Thistle (Linda) of St. John’s. Many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends also mourn his passing.
Cremation has taken place and in keeping with his wishes there will be no funeral service. There will be visitation at Fewer’s Funeral Home, Clarenville on Saturday September 27 from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 p.m. and Sunday September 28 from 2 – 4 p.m. for those who wish to say goodbye.
We are so grateful for the medical and personal care from his doctors to the entire staff at the Dr. O’Mahony Manor. Farewell and thank you to friends and members of Local 740 Pipefitters Union.
In his memory donations may be sent to Mrs. Shirley Hansford, 78 Huntley Drive, Shoal Harbour, A5A 4K6 to be evenly distributed to the Heart and Stroke Foundation and the Clarenville Area SPCA. Love lives on!

Rex was a huge part of my childhood growing up in Clarenville.I have countless wonderful memories of him coming to our home.I’ll always remember the twinkle in his eyes and his infectious laugh..
