Linda Doreen King Johnson, age 72, passed away peacefully November 9, 2020, lovingly surrounded by her family at St. Clare’s Hospital in St. John’s, NL.
Linda led a beautiful life with her husband and rock of 25 years, Al Johnson. Born in Terra Nova, NL, and living in Edmonton, AB, and Ottawa, ON, before coming back to Newfoundland and settling in Clarenville.
Linda was an eloquent writer, with penmanship from another era. Her love of panda bears coined her Panda Girl to those who knew her, and her sharp wit and trademark sense of humour was always present in her conversations and the stories she shared. She touched the lives of many through her smile, laughter, and generosity.
Linda treasured her three grandchildren and embraced every moment with Cara Vardy (Cody), Madison Vardy, and Finn Furlong, who she loved to the moon and back again. She is predeceased by her parents Victor and Georgina King, and survived and forever remembered by her sons, Christopher Vardy (Esther), and Stephen Vardy (Jill), her siblings, Doug King (Linda), Austin King (Joan), Tom King (Donna), Ewart King (Ros), Donna Kuehn (Gary), Una Johnson (Bud), Lorna Brown (Boyd), her brothers-in-law, Sam Johnson, and Hilary Johnson (Veta), and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
As you remember Linda, please keep the Johnson, King, and Vardy families in your thoughts and prayers. As per Linda’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and a private celebration of life will be held. In keeping with Linda’s generous heart, those who wish to honour her are welcome to make a gift in her memory to a charity of their choice.

November 13, 2020 at 6:53 pmI treasure the times Linda and I spent together from our time at National Sea products in St John’s to our driving across Canada in 1974 to our time sharing an apartment on 116 street in Edmonton and all the shannigans in between. You will be missed by many Linda. My thoughts and condolences go out to family and friends of Linda. Cherish all the special fun memories. A candle has been lit for Linda at the Grotto in Renews(where she visited with me) for a safe journey home. May your light forever shine my friend

November 17, 2020 at 3:58 pmDeepest condolences and loving hugs to you, Al, Christopher, Stephen, grandchildren, and all of our extended family on the passing of Linda. While we understand that in life “To everything there is a season…,” that does not diminish the hole in our hearts now that Linda is not with us physically. Our prayer is that the beauty and love she shared, and the eternal peace she is now experiencing will comfort us all daily.
Love and Blessings
Austin and Joan
