It is with sad hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend, Veta Joyce Randell of Clarenville, who passed away at Cozy Quarters Retirement Center, Clarenville on Monday, May 23, 2022 at the age of 84 years. Predeceased by her husband, Ross Randell; parents Francis and Gertrude Miller; sisters, Mildred Hillier (Walter), Neta Johnson (Lloyd), Hazel Janes; brothers, Johnny Miller (Jessie), Stan Miller. Left with fond and loving memories her son Maurice (Patricia) Randell; and daughter Debbie (Terry) Smith; grandchildren, Tara Lee Randell, Kaitlyn (Justin) Seward; great grandchildren, Brooklyn,Madison, Avalon and William; sisters in law Margaret Randell and Debbie Miller; and a large circle of family and friends. Cremation has taken place. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 28, 2022 from St. Mary’s Anglican Church, Clarenville. In her memory donations may be made to the Clarenville Area SPCA.
While we are going to miss her – we are also grateful and fortunate to have had her in our lives for 84 years. She gave 18 years of service to the Red Cross Home Health Program as co-coordinator and also, to the blood donor clinics. In later years she volunteered with the G B Cross Program, assisting with giving out nightly lunches, visits with patients and spreading cheer wherever she could. She was well known in the Clarenville area in the 60’s and 70’s as the Avon Lady. She was also, a “surrogate mom” to many of her children’s friends who “needed mothering” in one way or another. She always got great joy in doing “good deeds” for others. She also, served in St. Mary’s Anglican Church in the Ladies Auxillary and as a Sunday school teacher and an active member of the congregation.Anyone who knew her was keenly aware of her great love for her hometown of Kearley’s Harbour and surrounding area. She dearly loved keeping in touch with all her family and friends from the early days. Special thanks go out to the Comfort Home Care ladies for their excellent care, when she needed help with daily living. Also, there are no words to express the above and beyond care she received at the Cozy Quarters Retirement Center. All her caregivers were “Angels on Earth.” In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the SPCA as she had a special love of cats. We will miss her but are safe in the knowledge that she is now at peace.
“When someone you love becomes a memory, that memory becomes a treasure.”
