John Kirby Butler September 5, 1932 - September 5, 2023

Passed peacefully away surrounded by his family at the Hilltop Manor, Arnold’s Cove on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, John Kirby Butler of Arnold’s Cove, age 91 years.  Predeceased by his parents James and Harriet Butler; brothers Charlie and Kevin; also George and Eva Monk who took him into their home when his mom passed away at a young age and their daughter Elsie Monk.

Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife Susie of 68 years; son Harvey (Marie); daughters Florence Walsh (Gerry) and Sheila Hollett (Don); grandchildren Jennifer (Trey), Danny (Angie), Jennifer, Amanda (Darryl), Matthew (Tammy), Shawn (Kayla), Adam (Amy) and Natasha (Andy); great grandchildren Kirbie, Isabella, Kenadie, Jack, Landon, Rebecca, Alaina, Piper, Ashlynn, Austin, Paige and Blake; siblings Margaret Wiseman, Katie Dicks,  Alvina Easton (Charlie), Kay Monk, Joseph Monk (Edwina), Myrtle Snook (Ted); also his niece Genevera Vincent (Eddie) who was very special to him and a large circle of family and friends.

Resting at Fewer’s Funeral Home, Arnold’s Cove on Wednesday, Sept. 6 from 7-9 p.m. and Thursday, Sept. 7 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.  Funeral service 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 8, 2023 at the Salvation Army Citadel, Arnold’s Cove with interment to follow at the Interfaith Cemetery, Arnold’s Cove.  In his memory donations may be made to the Autism Society or the Salvation Army, Arnold’s Cove.

Special thank you to Dr. Fowlow and the staff at Hilltop Manor for their loving care over the last six years and especially over the last week.

Funeral service 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 8, 2023 at the Salvation Army Citadel, Arnold’s Cove with interment to follow at the Interfaith Cemetery, Arnold’s Cove.

    So sorry for your loss, Kirby was a very special man, always had a smile and a good word whenever I was in his presence. His faith in God and his love for you and his family was strong and sincere. Praying that your memories will give you all a measure of peace and strength as you share them together.
