Passed away peacefully at the Health Sciences Centre, St. John’s on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, Idella Philpott of Plate Cove East, age 87 years. Predeceased by her husband William; son John and infant sons Leonard and Brian. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are her children Frederick (Pauline), Maurice (Brenda), Catherine, Gilbert, Michael (Marie), Anne, Marie (Mark), Jackie (Allan) and Terry; grandchildren Colleen, Johnny, Raina, Terri Lynn, Brian, Christopher, Lori, Samantha, Timothy, Nikita, Alex, Jason, Ryan and Stacey; great grandchildren Emyn, Noah, Jacob, Madison, Lily, Sommer, Tyler, Owen, Elliott, Ethan, Isabella, Holly, Bailey, Atticus, Kashius, Justice, Kane and Keisha; sister Laura Howell; brothers George Boland (Effie), John Boland, Len Boland (Patricia) and Lloyd (Beverley); a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held in Plate Cove at St. Patrick’s parish on Sunday, April 21 at 7 p.m. Funeral service 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 22, 2024 at St. Patrick’s parish, Plate Cove.

As seen through joyful eyes
The moment I arrived here,
I saw the sweetest sight
All those who’d gone before me,
Surrounded by His light
They reached out and embraced me,
And instantly I knew
That I’d fulfilled my purpose,
And one day you will too
It’s natural you are sad now,
But try to let that go
There’s overwhelming peace here,
And beauty all aglow
We have no pain or suffering,
No thought of right or wrong
No one here’s an outsider,
Each one of us belong
There is no sense of judgement,
His light reveals our soul
Each one unique and perfect,
We make each other whole
So when you really miss me,
Just cast your eyes above
Remember, I am home now,

I am sorry to hear of Idella’s (Nan as she was called by many) passing. She was a beautiful person. You all have wonderful memories of her for sure. I know I do.
