It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Ida Mary Hickey age 83 on Sunday, September 13th, at Chancellor Park Long-Term Care Facility, located in St. John’s, Newfoundland.
Born in Davis Cove, Newfoundland, Ida moved to Southern Harbour in 1966 with her husband and children, where she made lifetime friends with whom she had many good times and good laughs with. While she often reminisced about her life in Davis Cove and spending time with her sister Francis in Bar Haven, she never missed an opportunity to make new memories with the many new friends she made in Southern Harbour.
Predeceased by her son Morgan and beloved husband David, parents Anthony and Bridget Leonard, brothers Patrick Leonard and John Leonard, and sisters Francis Pendergast and Mary McGrath.
Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are her children Viola Rose (Lindsay), Alec Hickey (Karen), Shirley Hickey (Bruce), Terry Hickey (Barb), Bernice Bailey (Jason), grandchildren Kelly, Darren, Patrick, Spencer, Luke, & Zachary, great grandchildren, Cole, Sadie, Deegan, sisters Judy and Bridget, and a large circle of nieces, nephews and extended family & friends.
The family would like to extend its gratitude to the staff of the Chancellor Park Long-Term Care Facility for the outstanding care they provide over the last several years.
While the loss of her leaves an emptiness that cannot be filled, the love she gave, the life she lived, and the memories she leaves behind will remain forever in the hearts of everyone who knew and loved her.
Resting at Christ the King church in Southern Harbour. Visitation to take place on Wednesday, September 16th from 2-4 pm and 7-9pm. Wake service at 8pm. Funeral service 11am on Thursday, September 17th at Christ the King Church, Southern Harbour. Lunch and social to be held following the service Fog Bay Centre in Southern Harbour.
In keeping with her wishes, cremation will take place after the service. Interment will be held at a later date.
