Francis G. Young passed peacefully away at G. B. Cross Hospital in Clarenville on August 30, 2026, at the age of 96 years.
Francis was born in Notre Dame Bay on October 15, 1929. He married Lillian Woods on November 10, 1965, and together they moved to St. John’s to begin their life together.
Lillian was the love of Francis’s life, and together they shared 55 wonderful years of marriage. Their life together was filled with love, companionship, family, and many cherished memories. Francis was deeply devoted to Lillian, and their bond remained strong throughout their years together.
Francis enjoyed a life filled with the things he loved most. He spent his summers camping, the fall months snaring rabbits and moose hunting, and the winters taking trips to the sunny south. These years brought him many happy memories and adventures that he cherished.
Francis lived a full and meaningful life and was surrounded by family and friends throughout his journey. He made many special friends during his time at the Clarenville Retirement Centre, and he truly appreciated each and every one of you. The friendships he formed there brought him great joy and companionship, and he was grateful for the kindness and care he received. Special thanks are extended to his roommate, Gerald Spurrell, and his friend, Bob Baggs, for their kindness and companionship.
A private family burial will take place at the United Church Cemetery in Cobb’s Arm.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Francis’s memory may be made to the United Cemetery Fund in Cobb’s Arm.
