It is with much love and fond memories that we announce the passing of Felix J. Keough on November, 17, 2024 at Dr. G.B. Cross Memorial Hospital at the age of 80 years.
Predeceased by his wife Bridget (nee Hanlon) and precious granddaughter Jennifer O’Driscoll; parents Stephen Keough and Margaret Keough Dooley; brothers Michael, William, and John Thomas Keough; sisters Lucille Moores, Philomena Walsh and Mary Cooke.
Felix is survived by his son Felix (Jill), daughter Rhonda O’Driscoll (Glen), beloved granddaughters Lauren O’Driscoll and Stephanie O’Driscoll; special niece Tracy Lynn Brinkley; sister Catherine Mitchell; sisters in-law Rose Branton, Kay Joyce and Mary Keough; and brothers in-law Collin, Walter, and Barry Hanlon; and a large circle of family and friends.
Felix was born in Plate Cove East, Bonavista Bay. He began working at a very young age. One of his first full-time jobs started in 1962 with the US Air Force in Goose Bay, Labrador. In 1972, he was recognized for his service as a Civilian Manager for the US Air Force. In 1975, he returned to Bonavista Bay where he and wife, Bridget, managed the Ocean Lounge for many years. Felix later travelled back to Labrador several times working with another of his passions, carpentry. He loved the outdoors; for many years, growing vegetables, tending farm animals and cutting wood. In earlier days, Felix was a force of nature, willing to share his opinion (requested or not). As some recall, he could sometimes create new words to accentuate his point of view. In his later years, Felix mellowed considerably, enjoying time with family (particularly his granddaughters) and friends.
The family wishes to thank the staff at the Sunshine Supportive Care Rooms at the Dr. G.B. Cross Memorial Hospital for their compassionate care and providing a space for the family to spend our most precious final days together.
Thank you to all our family and friends that have provided support during these difficult days. Your kindness has been a source of strength. Thank you to Sister Elizabeth Whelan and Father Gabriel Awaufor for administering last rites.
Visitation to be held at St. Patrick’s Parish, Plate Cove on Tuesday, December 17, 2024 from 3-7 p.m. with Rosary and Celebration of Life starting at 7pm. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 18, 2024 at 11a.m. with interment to follow at St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Cemetery, Plate Cove East. Gathering to follow at St. Patrick’s Parish Center, Plate Cove.
Flowers greatly appreciated or donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society or Canadian Cancer Society.
