It is with full hearts that the family of Eugene (Gene) Angus Snow of Swift Current, later residing in Clarenville, announces his peaceful passing at the GB Cross Memorial Hospital in Clarenville on July 22 at the privileged age of 92 years.
Eugene will be fondly remembered by his devoted daughters, Pauline Spurrell and Wanda (Micheal) Curtis, and their families; grandsons: Andrew (Melissa); Colby Curtis and Brendon Curtis; granddaughters: Danielle (Brandyn) Morrison and Chelsea Allen; great grandsons: Greyson Morrison and Oliver Morrison; sister: Ruby Green; and a loving circle of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Eugene is predeceased by his wife: Betty Snow; father; Ananias (Andy) Snow; mother: Amelia (Minnie) Snow; son-in-law: Donald Spurrell; brother: Ronald (Ron) Snow; sister-in-law: Eileen Snow; brother-in-law: Edward (Ned) Green; sister: Pearl Smith; and brother-in-law: Ben Smith.
Eugene was born and grew up in Woody Island, Placentia Bay. From there life took him on an adventure which provided him with many life skills. In 1960 he settled in Swift Current, where along with his dear wife Betty their adventures continued.
You are invited by the family to visit and share memories at Fewer’s Funeral Home in Clarenville on Friday, July 24 between 2-4pm, and 7-9pm. Please also join in a celebration of life to take place at Fewer’s Memorial Chapel on Saturday, July 25th at 2pm. Interment to follow at the Pentecostal Cemetery, Swift Current. Afterwards, before heading home, please stop by the Swift Current Pentecostal Church for food and fellowship—something Eugene thoroughly enjoyed.
He believed everything given came back tenfold, in ways we do not always see or understand, and in his last days he donated everything he owned to charity. He also tithed a 10th of his income to his church in Swift Current, and throughout the years he gave generously to various church funds.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any donations made in his honour be directed to the Bethel Pentecostal Church, Swift Current or the Calvary Pentecostal Church, Clarenville.

Our hearts are saddened to hear of Eugene’s passing. In our few short years at Swift Current, we had many great visit’s with him and his wife Betty. A very loving and welcoming couple. We shared many lunches and stories always a great time of fellowship and prayer. They were faithful members of the church.
Thinking of you all as you say farewell, we will see you in the morning brother at the grand reunion with loved ones gone before.

July 24, 2026 at 8:31 pmEugene was a great gentleman as caring as he was giving.. He had more common sense then I have found in many people. When I first met him I was still in my 20 ,Barbara and I stayed at Betty and Eugene house many times and I was made to fell like family. Eugene had a great way of telling stories and experiences that could fill a book. He took me out one day to pull nets, and like a true corner bum I got sea sick, I had never pulled nets before and he patiently explained it to me. I will remember him for the great man that he was. I am sad for his passing , but this I know I will meet him again and we will eat at that great table. May God Give you Pauline and Wanda strength and comfort as you both shoulder this ,Barbara and I will be thinking of you..

My heart is saddened to hear of Uncle Gene’s passing. One of the very best people to grace our lives, he made you happy just to see him come in the door. He was always ready with a story to tell, a joke, or some timely wisdom that we badly needed at that moment. He was kind, and helpful, and was a man who loved his God and showed it every day. Generous of spirit, with time for everyone who walked through his door; even a little city boy of six, from Toronto.
I see him standing there, on his boat dock in a jacket of red plaid; patiently explaining everything I pointed to.
Few men would let a child of six run their outboard boat up on its gunnels, zipping across a bay.
Uncle Gene did. Just to give this small child the experience of a lifetime.
Throttle in my hand, wide open, sporting the biggest grin.
Evenings, we’d retire to his cozy living room and oil stove. Aunt Betty in the kitchen, setting the table for a meal made with love.
Cousins Wanda & Pauline, finishing homework; Uncle Gene, enjoying a hockey game. Me, scribbling on their Etch A Sketch.
His eyes danced with happiness, beneath a broad brimmed cap.
Ever the avid fisherman, judging tides, and checking lobster pots; nowhere was he closer to peace than on the sea.
Skipping rollers in his little trawler, we’d often turn back to beat changing winds.
Inspecting buoys, securing the motorboat, or riding his Ski-Doo; Uncle Gene introduced me to the placid beauty that is Swift Current.
I can’t help but think of him whenever I see an orange life vest, or catch the aroma of marine oil & 2 stroke gasoline.
It was with a steady hand and quiet wisdom, he navigated life’s tributaries.
With a love for his family, and his Lord, that scarcely his heart could contain.
Upon our last and final telephone call in 2021, he was earnest in his hope to see me again. In that dear, sweet way of his; imploring me to visit him soon, “Down Home.”
I have warm memories of that final conversation.
Though I was too late for our bay-side rendezvous, we shall sail again.
On a sea of glass, together, with that Fisher of Men.
Fair winds and following seas, Uncle Gene.
