Donna Fizzard September 2, 1960 - November 3, 2025

It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Donna Fizzard announce her passing on November 3, 2025, at the Health Sciences Centre in St. John’s, surrounded by those who loved her. Born on September 2, 1960, Donna lived a life defined by compassion, humour, and quiet strength.

Donna worked for many years as a social worker, where her natural empathy and kindness touched countless lives. Later, she returned to her hometown of Grand Le Pierre, where she worked as the Town Clerk/Manager for 15 years—a role she carried out with dedication and care. During this time, Donna also cared for her parents and her aunt—an act of deep devotion that reflected her generous spirit. Even while facing her own serious illness, she continued to put others first, meeting each challenge with grace and determination.

Donna had a wonderful sense of humour and a warm, welcoming nature. She found happiness in the simple things—especially in baking and sharing her treats with family and friends. She also had a lifelong love of animals and took great comfort in her cherished pets. Her “fur babies” Mickey, Copper, and her brother’s dog Maggie await her in heaven. She also leaves behind her brother’s pets, Bella and Ruby, whom she loved dearly and who will continue to be cared for as she would have wished. Donna especially enjoyed cuddling with her pets on the couch during quiet evenings—those simple, peaceful moments brought her great comfort and contentment.

Donna was known for her fondness of the color purple, a shade that reflected her vibrant and caring personality. Whether in her home, her wardrobe, or the little touches she added around her, it was a colour she embraced fully.

Leaving to mourn with treasured memories are her mother Irene, her brother Roger (Marlene), and her sisters Marilyn, Patricia, and Roxanne (Vince); her brother-in-law Tom; her nieces Chastity, Taushawna, Nicole, Kylie, and Keira; her nephews Tyson, Andrew, Zachary, Bailey, Brandon, and Michael; as well as her great-nieces and great-nephews, who brought her much happiness. A special mention to Zachary, who often visited Donna during her hospital stays, bringing her comfort and companionship. She will also be remembered by her uncle John and her cousins, especially Don, Lawrence, Charles, and Kevin, with whom she shared a special bond, along with her many other cousins, who will remember her with love and fondness. The family extends heartfelt thanks to Lawrence, Charles, and Kevin for accompanying her to many medical appointments, and to Don, who stayed by her bedside until her peaceful passing.

Donna was deeply comforted by regular calls from her Aunt Helen, whose conversations brought her much-needed peace during her final years. She also shared a close relationship with her beloved Aunt Selena, with whom she lived for many years. Their companionship was a cherished part of her life.

Donna is also lovingly remembered by her dear friend Carol, whose friendship meant a great deal to her over the years. Her friend Jennie is also fondly remembered for her kindness, frequent visits, and the many ways she helped and supported Donna, ensuring she was always well cared for.

Donna is predeceased by her father, Rev. Edward G. Fizzard; her brothers Eric and Michael; her sister Sandra; her brother-in-law Harold; and her nephew Lucas, as well as by her aunts, uncles, and grandparents. The family takes comfort in knowing they have welcomed her with open arms.

Donna’s passing leaves a deep void in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who were fortunate to know her. Her kindness, strength, and gentle humour will be remembered always.
