I met Dean around 1988 or 89. We went to a company sponsored curling event with people from work. We both worked for Mobil Chemical in Belleville Ontario. Neither one of us knew anything about curling but there was free drinks and free food! At that time he worked in a different building then I did so I didn’t see him at work.
Eventually he transferred to the same plant I was at and we became friends and going on adventures. Camping, fishing, hunting, boating, four wheeling, off-roading etc..
we went to New York City together, Toronto (and raced rickshaws! LOL) and along with Carl we went to Charlotte NC to a NASCAR race for a week! I helped him move all his belongings to Newfoundland because he was moving east.
One of the best laughs ever was one Sunday morning we were leaving a camping weekend and loading our boats and stuff on trailers ready to go home. There was a father and his young son just hanging around at the boat launch as we were there. Dean had a 3 legged dog that was with us and the young lad spotted the dog and said to his father“ Look Dad, that dog only has 3 legs.” And Dean heard him and said “Yeah, he’s a good dog, you don’t want to eat him all at once!” LOL 😆 The young lad stared at Dean and then everyone had a good laugh!
I’m going to miss Dean, his humour and just knowing he’s there.
Condolences to Debbie, Vanessa and all of Dean’s family and friends.
