Benjamin Joseph Hoben March 23, 1935 - October 9, 2026

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Benjamin Joseph Hoben, age 91 of North Harbour, who passed peacefully away surrounded by family on October 9, 2026.

Ben Joe was predeceased by his parents Benjamin and Lillian Hoben; sisters Mabel Deir, Florence Hodder and Dinah Rose Hoben and brothers Eli Hoben and James William Hoben.

Left to cherish his memory are a large circle of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends whose lives were enriched by his presence.

Born and raised on the remote island of Port Anne in Placentia Bay, Ben Joe spent much of his life there until resettling to North Harbour in 1966.  He was a dedicated fisherman throughout his working life, who spent countless hours on the sea.  He especially loved the outdoors, spending time duck hunting, berry picking and rabbit catching.

The family extends sincere gratitude to the staff and management of G.B. Cross Memorial Hospital and the Clarenville Retirement Centre.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Fewer’s Funeral Home, Clarenville.  Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2026 from 7-9 p.m. and Sunday, October 11, 2026 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at St. Matthew’s Anglican Church, North Harbour.  Celebration of life service Monday, October 12, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. from St. Matthew’s Anglican Church, North Harbour with interment to follow at the Anglian Cemetery in North Harbour.
