May 19, 2021 at 1:10 pmSo sorry to hear about Aunt Trixie’s passing. I remember fondly my visits to both St. John’s and Musgravetown. Our family left the island in the 1970s and returned often to visit family which, of course, meant a stop to see Aunt Trixie and Uncle Gord. It was lovely to have the opportunity for her, in 2019, to meet one of my grandchildren and his dad and I am saddened that she will not have that same opportunity for the rest of my children/grandchildren. Her dedication to lovingly look after her parents and sister, Ella did not go unnoticed and her kindness and compassion to those around her will not be forgotten. Her brother, Alec, loved reciting poetry so I thought it would be nice to include a poem by Mary Elizabeth Frye
Do not stand at my grave and weep. I am not there. I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain. I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning’s hush. I am the swift uplifting rush. Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry; I am not there. I did not die.
Rest in peace as you are reunited with family and I will miss our phone chats.
Bev Garnett (nee Anthony), Ron & family

May 20, 2021 at 9:50 amMy sincere condolences to Trixie’s family and friends. Trixie was a life long family friend whom I have the privilege of sharing a birthday and name with. I have many treasured memories of her from when she lived in Corner Brook on the same street where I grew up, when she came back to visit and visits with her when she lived in St. John’s. I once had a boyfriend named Gord, and it was always a chuckle for me to send them cards to Trixie & Gord, from Trixie & Gord. Cherish your memoires of her as I will mine.
