Alexander (Sandy) Clarke, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle & friend to all that knew him, left us far too soon on September 10, 2024. Born on October 4, 1963, Sandy lived a life full of love and laughter where family and friends meant everything to him.
Predeceased by his father Rex, father-in-law Moses Rodway, and brother-in-law Tony Rodway. Left with broken hearts and cherished memories are his wife of 38 years, Heather, children Adam (Sherisse), Stephanie (Adam), Andrew (Nicole), six grandchildren – Kyle, Kadence, Kinley, Tanner, Nate & Alex, mother Laura (Harry), brother Vernon (Krista), sister Sue (Jeff), mother-in-law Letha Rodway, nephew Brad, nieces Brittany and Raine, great-nephew Blake, and a large circle of very dear friends and coworkers, many of whom were like family to him.
His departure leaves an unfillable void, but we find comfort in the memories and stories shared. Sandy was a hardworking man who spent much of his career on the road – there wasn’t a tire or part number that he couldn’t locate. Sandy spent most of his life in Shoal Harbour where in younger years he loved playing a game of hockey, broomball, or softball, time at the cabin, fishing, or cooking up a scoff for family or friends. In recent years, he could be found cod fishing in Hickman’s Harbour, cheering on his grandkids at their various sporting activities, or cooking up Sunday dinner for when the games were over. There is nothing he cherished more than time with his family and he will be forever loved and missed by all.
As per Sandy’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation will be on Friday, September 13th from 2 – 5 and 7 – 9 p.m. Celebration of Life service 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 14, 2024 at Fewer’s Memorial Chapel, Clarenville.
In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to a charity of one’s choice in Sandy’s memory.

September 10, 2024 at 2:23 pmTo Heather, Adam, Stephanie, Andrew and your whole Family.
I was shocked to learn of Sandy’s passing. We met years ago, our Boys enjoyed each other’s Company and we had a scattered visit from time to time and then we moved and even though we live close to each other now things get in the way and we only see each other in passing but there are memories that will last a lifetime.
Please accept our sincerest of condolences and we pray that the love of your Family and Friends and the many fond memories help you all through this most difficult of times.

I am going to miss talking to Sandy down on the wharf in Hickman’s Harbour or heading out the arm to the fishing ground off Wester Head. I am saddened and shocked to hear this news. I remember when he was very young he would tag along with Rex his dad and me to Terra Nova in the old Land Rover and he was so excited to be a part of our trip. And in later years when he was growing up he was so happy and pleasant every time I saw him.
Laura I can only imagine the anguish you’re dealing with now but I want you to know that I’m sharing some of the pain alongside you .
Please hold the rest of your beautiful family close to you because i know you have lots of love to go around and comfort them.
Please accept my deepest sympathy.
