July 31, 2025 at 8:02 pmI use to help Winnie with her shopping and visit her in the home as well the times she was in the hospital, she was very loving to be around with playing 120s with her and my Grandmother Mildred Baker as well as a few of Winnie friends. She was one of many friends in my Grandmother group I call nan\grandma. She was a lovely person to spend time with and to be with her for few years and make her days happy. It brings me joy she lived her life to the fullest, I’m also happy she got to see her birthday before she passed with the big birthday card I made her with everyone at 50+ clubs signing from all her friends from the club. I can remember the days with her as well my Grandmother Mildred. I use to call Winnie and my grandmother the two from Mrs. Brown boys since them two would chat for hours on the phone. There are many memories I can list off about Winnie but I can’t write them all down in tears. I’m happy I got to be in her life. We will love you Winne very much. To her boys, know I send from me and my Grandmother Mildred Baker our deepest condolences we are very sorry for their loss and the lost of an amazing friend who I call Nan\Grandma.

August 5, 2025 at 1:19 pmWhile I was in the hospital for the first five months precious Mrs. Winnie Spurell was in the bed across from me. You know I love seniors. She was 97 and she made it to her 98th. Her and I formed a quick bond. She would tell me stories all day long, inspect my crochet, and tell me about all the beautiful things she herself once made.
I don’t know how she figured out that my middle name was Florence, but for the full five months she would call me flossy. ❤️❤️
I of course was longing too be able too be well enough to go home, and she wanted to go home too. She would sometimes say to me I think I’m going too go on home today, her memory reminded me of my own Nan’s, but of course after being in the hospital for so long sometimes even I would forget were I was! I would say to her, I think we might as well stay where we’re too for another day and she would say alright flossy as long as you’re staying I’ll stay to.
She did sleep a lot during the day, she would drift off peacefully to sleep while holding my hand❤️ sometimes in the night with the lights off and forgetting where she was too she would call out too me❤️ I didn’t care if she woke me up multiple times a night, I would get up and go hold her hand and remind her where she was and that she was ok❤️
I can’t really put into words the impact that she had on my life in those months we spent day in and day out together. I can say I will cherish those moments for the rest of my life.
Precious Winnie as you’re life is celebrated today, I have absolutely no doubt that you have already entered into your eternal rest, in the arms of Jesus❤️

August 6, 2025 at 12:15 pmDavid, Gary and family. I’m so sorry to hear of your Mother’s passing. What a beautiful life to live for 98 years. She has seen lots in her lifetime. Although I haven’t seen her in many years, I have very fond memories of going to visit “Aunt” Winnie & “Uncle” George when I would visit their home in Clarenville. You were only young boys then. Hold on to the wonderful memories of the beautiful lady to help you through this difficult time. I can hear her voice now. I was always welcomed so warmly in her home. Sending love and prayers.
