William Albert Abbott

September 20, 1930 – March 21, 2020

It is with heavy hearts that the family of our beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother and Uncle, passed peacefully away at James Paton Memorial Regional Health Centre on Saturday, March 21, 2020, with his family by his side. Predeceased by his Parents, Weston and Miriam; his son, Neil.

Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are his wife Joyce of 63 years, his son Wayne (Marion), and daughters  Sharon (Carl) and Brenda (Dale); daughter in law Roberta. His cherished Grandchildren, Jessica, Brandon, Victoria, Sarah, Courtney and Anna. Sister, Pearl (Lawrence); niece Doreen (Greg) and a great circle of family and friends.

In his early years, Dad worked as a lumber jack at a Camp in Howley. In his adult years, he worked for Terra Nova National Park from which he retired from. Dad would always tell stories about his work in the woods and on the park. One story stands out that he told over the years is that the men who he worked with would know it’s time to go to work when Dad arrived because he was always just in time never early and never late.

Dad was a hard working, kind, gentle loving man and a great provider for his family. His family were his world. He and Mom had a wonderful life together. They were both avid campers for over 60 years and enjoyed many campfires. He loved and cherished his grandchildren. Every time we would visit first thing he would say his “Joyce, clear off the table because we are going to have a game of dice”. They played many of games together and shared many laughter’s. He will forever be missed and loved by them.

Thank you to the Nursing staff and Doctors at James Paton Memorial Regional Health Centre. They provided Dad with comfort and care during his brief stay.

A special thank you to Terrance, Roy and Joyce for all the support and cooked meals that you have provided to Dad over the pass few years.

Amid the social gatherings restrictions, there will be no public visitation. A private family service will be held at Fewer’s Funeral Home in Clarenville on Tuesday, March 24.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Charlottetown Salvation Army Corps.

My condolences to your family. I have many fond memories of summers spent in Charlottetown with Aunt Maud and Uncle Rich. Albie and Pearl were very kind to us and we especially enjoyed the time we spent with Albie on his boat. He was indeed a fine man.

So sorry to hear of Albie’s passing. I remember so we’ll when he would meet us in Port Blanford with his boat, when we came to Charlottetown for vacation. It was so nice to reunite with him last year, and to meet his daughters. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
