Walter Ricketts December 16, 1929 - July 4, 2023

Funeral service will be held on Sunday, July 9, 2023 at 2:00 pm from St. James Anglican Church – Jamestown. Interment to follow.

Walter Chesley Ricketts (December 16, 1929 – July 4, 2023) – Passed peacefully away surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, July 4, 2023 age 93 years.

Predeceased by his siblings: Violet Peters, Doris King, Joe Penney, Daisy Samson and Shirley Templeman; special uncle and friend Obe and special friend Henrietta Peddle.

Left to celebrate 93 years of laughter and love his children: Darrell (Maxine) Ricketts, Janice (Bill) Jenkins, Sylvia Ricketts (Neil Klakowich) and Tina (John) Smith; his adored grandchildren: Chris (Holly) Ricketts, Brian Jenkins, James Ricketts, Heather Jenkins (Adam Strange),  Stephanie (Tony) MacKenzie, Robert Baxter – Ricketts, Shawn (Raelynn Rogers) Smith and Denise Smith (Steve Cooper); precious great grandchildren: Michael, Autumn, Tyler, Adriane and Theodore and his special friend Mary Ivany; siblings: Robert (Karen) Ricketts, Jessie (Joe) LeBlanc and Mona Loder, many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Walter’s true happy place was the outdoors, he hunted, fished, loved to trout anything in the woods or on the ocean brought a true smile. He loved the cabin, a swally and a good game of 120’s. Walter was a great father, and role model for his family, sharing his knowledge, love and his laughter. We will cherish our memories of him.

At Walter’s request cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at Barrett’s Funeral Home 73 Commonwealth Ave., Mount Pearl on Friday, July 7, 2023 from 2:00 – 5:00 pm and 7:00 – 9:00 pm. Visitation will continue on Saturday, July 8, 2023 from 4:00 -9:00 pm at Fewer’s Funeral Home Lethbridge. Funeral service will be held on Sunday, July 9, 2023 at 2:00 pm from St. James Anglican Church – Jamestown. Interment to follow.

As expression of sympathy donations may be made in Walter’s memory to the St. James Anglican Church- Jamestown.

    Condolences to Tina, Janice, Sylvia, Darrell and families on the passing of your Dad. Have many wonderful memories of growing up on Winston Avenue and spending a lot of time at your house. Hold tight to your memories and they will get you through the days ahead.
