Passed peacefully at Agnes Pratt Nursing Home, St. John’s, on Thursday December 1st, Walter Boyd Holloway of Clarenville, age 77 years after a long battle with dementia. Predeceased by his parents, Walter & Flora Holloway, brothers Mac, Alex and Art, sisters Josie and Doreen; nephews Christopher and Jim; and niece Eleanor. Also brothers-in-law Hubert and Bob; parents-in-law Cyril and Eliza Jane Smith. Leaving to mourn his loving wife of 53 years Mildred (Smith) Holloway, Daughter Angie (Eric) Rietveld of Dorchester, Ontario, Son Steven (Emily) Holloway of Conception Bay South, Newfoundland, Beloved grandchildren Jacob, Jordan, Nora, Henry and Felix. Also mourning are his sisters Eileen (Heber) of Random Island, Maisie (Earle) of Ridgetown ON, Velma (Eldon) of Terra Nova and Linda of Clarenville; brothers and sisters-in law Gerry (Gloria), Evelyn, Audrey, Sylvain, Alice (Rod) ,Kim (Lindo) and Bill (Colleen); Special friends and travelling companions Eugene and Pearl Adey of Scarborough ON. Finally; many nieces, nephews and cousins plus a large circle of friends. Cremation has taken place. Visitation on December 23, 2022 from 12- 1:30 at Fewer’s Funeral Home, service to follow at 2:00 p.m. at Fewer’s Memorial Chapel with interment at Clarenville Interdenominational Cemetery. Family and friends are welcome to attend. Donations may be made to Alzheimers Society of Canada or Memorial United Church in Clarenville. Many thanks to all the people who supported him and Millie in his final years with a special thanks to Jeanette for the care provided in his home and the staff at Agnes Pratt for the care they provided in his final days. Boyd was a devoted father and family man who travelled far to support his family. He was an avid traveller and enjoyed spending his retirement time in Florida until it was cut short by the disease.
Gone but not forgotten…until we meet again.

I just took a call from Mom and she told me of Boyd’s passing. Although truly saddened to hear it, it also took me back to such amazing memories of being next door neighbors with you fine people in Clarenville, so many years ago.
