Our hearts are broken. Passed peacefully away with her family by her side on January 30, 2024, at the age of 84 at the L.A. Miller Center, Palliative Care Unit, Shirley Belle Holloway (Bowen). Predeceased by her husband Lloyd, her parents, Walter Fred and Jessie Bowen and her infant brother Eli. Also predeceased by her sister-in-law Louise Holloway.
Left to mourn and celebrate her life are her three children Faye Kielley (Gerry), Janice Butt (Glenn) and Geoffrey (Jennifer); the lights of her life her grandchildren Jeremy (Moira) and Jared Butt , Jaron and Jaedon Holloway and her step grandchildren Brad (Amy) and Chris (Lorie) Kielley and four step great grandchildren Jovie, Nathan, Lauryn and Quinn and always bringing a smile to her face, her grand fur babies Hudson, Bentley, Hershey and Winnie.
Mom spent a lifetime perfecting her domestic skills, even while working. Memories of baked goods after school, a freezer stocked with homemade pies, home knit sweaters and handmade coats and quilts all come to mind. Mom always stressed the importance of hard work and education and she could not have been more proud of her children and in recent years her grandsons. Mom was a woman of great strength and determination which came through even in the last few months of her life.
Resting at Fewer’s Funeral Home in Lethbridge, with visitation on Saturday, Feb 3 at 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral will take place on Sunday, February 4, 2024 at 2 PM at Heritage United Church in Musgravetown.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Shirley’s memory to Heritage United Church Cemetery Fund or the L.A. Miller Center, Palliative Care Unit.
Though our mother and grandmother may be gone, she will never be forgotten. Her memory and her legacy will live on, as we do, in our hearts and in our minds. We love you Mom/Grandma.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude and appreciation to the many doctors and nurses who provided care to our mother over the past few months.

February 2, 2024 at 10:41 amOur deepest condolences to all for the loss you are feeling. Shirley was a kind and gentle soul and a force to be reckoned with all in one. She adored her family and spoke of them all so proudly. Find comfort in knowing she loved you all. She welcomed all into her home and her gentle personality made her a pleasure to be around. We will miss you terribly Shirley. She fought a great fight and now she rests in peace surrounded by the love of loved ones gone before her. She is an Angel and heaven is better place because she is there. Spread your wings and fly sweet Shirley, we love you!

February 2, 2024 at 6:59 pmShirley & Lloyd came into our lives in 2001 when their son Geoffrey married our daughter Jennifer. Right from our first meeting Shirley & Lloyd & their family became instant friends. Nothing was too great an effort for Shirley, she made two Bridesmaids Dresses for Janice & Faye, vests & bow ties & vests for Jeremy & Jared Jigs Dinner for the Rehearsal Party Supper, Baked Goods & the willingness to help with whatever needed doing. Shirley’s visits to Ontario where full of fun & laughter as we ladies shopped til we dropped. Shirley was such a great help to Jennifer as she cared for two little boys under the age of three. How welcome we felt on our two visits to Newfoundland. Shirley leaves a huge hole in all of our lives but our memories of life with Shirley will live on in our hearts forever.
