Samuel Soper May 11, 1936 - September 21, 2023

Passed away at Dr. G B Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville on Thursday, September 21, 2023, Samuel Soper of Clarenville, formerly of Little Hearts Ease, age 87 years.  Predeceased by parents Elijah & Annie Soper; parents-in-law Samuel and Minnie Whalen; sisters Mildred Balsom, and Woodrow Whalen; grandchildren Rebecca Soper, Aiden Soper and Damian Stacey.  Left with fond and loving memories his wife Joyce of 65 years; children Karen (Wayne Sinclair), Bernice (Vince Smith), Judy (Kent Martin), Janice (Kenneth Dale), Dennis (Regina Paul), David (Deidre Stacey), Jocelyn (Boyd Harris), Sherry (Jason Butt), Lori (Terry Stanley) and Glenda (Mike Stewart); 26 grandchildren; 40 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; sister Margaret (Ron Seaward); brothers William, Raymond (Doris), Ingham (Lucy), Stan (Patsy) and Ross (Gloria); brother-in-law Stan Whalen; and a large circle of family and friends.  Resting at Fewer’s Funeral Home, Clarenville on Saturday, September 23, 2023 from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 p.m.  Funeral service 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 24, 2023 at Fewer’s Memorial Chapel, Clarenville with interment to follow at the United Cemetery, Little Hearts Ease.  In his memory, donations are gratefully accepted to the Salvation Army Food Bank or the United Church, Little Hearts Ease.

 

 

Funeral service 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 24, 2023 at Fewer’s Memorial Chapel, Clarenville with interment to follow at the United Cemetery, Little Hearts Ease.

    I’m so deeply saddened to hear of Sam’s passing, he was such a great man to me and our family, he was the best father in law that anyone could ask for, my heartfelt condolences to all of the Soper family at this very sad time, I’ll be thinking of you all, in the days ahead,

    This is what I thought of Sam.

    We named our son after him, Samuel Eli.
