Norman Dumaresque July 26, 1940 - September 14, 2023

The family of Norman Dumaresque is saddened to announce his passing on Sept. 14th at the age of 83.

Norm will be lovingly remembered by his daughters, Gail (Terry) and Deena Nicole (Darius); his grandchildren, Caitlyn, Leah, Anna and Aiden; his partner of many years Pearl and her children Shelia (Craig), Wade (Barbara), Wanda (Wayne), and Corey; as well as many relatives and friends.

Norm was predeceased by his wife Violet and siblings Elias, Allan, Abe, Grace, Beulah and Dorothy.

Normie (as his daughters called him) was born in L’Anse Au Clair where he spent his early years fishing with his father.  At 15 he left home and worked hard as a labourer cutting roads in remote Labrador, installing satellites in Frobisher Bay and Resolute before moving to Carol Lake (now Labrador City) to help build the town.  He worked and managed the Public Works Department of Lab. City as well as being a volunteer firefighter until his retirement in 1996.

Anyone who met Norm, knew him as generous, hard-working and a family-centered man.  He was a loving father and doting grandfather who always said yes, always played one more game, held your hand, fixed the toy, walked for ice cream and did it all with a constant smile and laughter. He taught us the act of selflessness and how to love unconditionally.  He didn’t always have the words but we felt his joy in his family nevertheless. He was our friend, our father, partner and mentor.  He’s left a void that can’t be filled and our hearts ache but we promise to follow your example that life is best lived with grace, kindness and lots of laughter.

A visitation will be held at Fewer’s Funeral home in Clarenville, Sunday, September 17, 2023 from 7-9 P.M. and Monday, September 18, 2023 from 2-4 P.M.

A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, September 19th at St. Mary’s Anglican Church at 178 Memorial Drive in Clarenville.

In his memory a donation may be made to the Ronald McDonald House Foundation at rmhccanda.ca
