Bride was the first cousin to welcome me via the internet to my genealogy. My mom was Mary J. Whiffen Murray, b.1903 in Southern Harbour. Thru Bride I saw for the first time pictures of where my mom was born. Kitty, Rose and Bride welcomed my daughter and I to there home for ‘Jiggs Dinner. Naturally we sang along to songs. She then took us over to my mom’s nephew (her brother Vince’s son) Alf Whiffen and his familly. Such wonderful times. We always sent each other Christmas Cards, her’s were of The Mummers and mine of New England. I’ll miss her – Carolyn Murray, Nashua NH USA

So sad for the passing of my special cousin, BRIDE. She was a beautiful person – thoughtful and caring –
who never forgot a birthday or important event in the family. I will miss our reminiscing about the growing up years and her calls “just to check in.”

She was blessed to have such wonderful friends in Southern Harbour who were there for her in her time of need and saw her through to the end:: Donna, Harold and Sheldon were names she mentioned often. Your kindness to her was certainly valued and appreciated and never taken for granted. She was not one to complain and patiently endured a lot of sadness and suffering in the past few months. May her gentle soul fly high with the angles….she’s more than earned her wings!

Rest In Peace Bride! You will be missed by your many cousins and friends.

Today, it’s good-bye to the last member of a family who welcomed, into their home, with song and laughter, the whole Bar Haven community. On the tiny island, many happy times ensued when we “went down to Whiffens” for a gathering of a dozen or more. Bride entertained on the organ and we all joined in and sang along.
Confronted with the challenges of resettlement, Kitty, Bride, Rose and their parents packed up and moved on. In Southern Harbour, Bride remained faithful to her commitments to home and church while working diligently in the school and library.
As well, Bride took advantage of emerging opportunities to advance her own education. Clever and hard working, she became even stronger and gently touched many more lives.
Bride will be missed but our tears will be tempered with fond and loving memories.
Deepest condolences to fellow cousins as well as other family and community members especially Donna, Harold and Sheldon who stepped up mightily when Bride faced overwhelming health challenges in the past few years.
You’ll be forever in our hearts, Bride. May Our Lord’s perpetual light shine upon you in your eternal rest..

Ralph and I offer our deepest condolences to family and friends of Bride. She was well known for her integrity and intellect, a very intelligent lady. Her many years as Secretary at the school in Southern Harbour and also as Librarian where she retired. She knew every book from cover to cover. I had the privilege of working next door to her in the town complex and shared many a coffee break with her along with my sister Joan. She also loved nature and took to photography as a hobby but it was short lived in her retirement years due to her illness. So sad that she didn’t have the privilege to continue this passion after all her years in the working field. She was well liked and She will be sadly missed and never forgotten. Fly high with the Angels Bride!
