Nellie Stanley September 3, 1941 - March 17, 2026

Passed peacefully away at Dr. G B Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, Nellie Stanley of Clarenville, age 84 years.

Predeceased by husband Jim; parents James and Florence Piercey; baby brother Merlin; brother-in-law Isaac Masters; sisters-in-law Wavey Piercey and Nora Piercey.

Left to mourn with fond and loving memories her son Dennis; extended family Robert Gobin; granddaughter Melanie; great grandchildren Madison, Jayden and Mikaila; Bernice Drodge and all of her amazing family.  Also left to mourn are her sister Madeline; brother Fred (Marilyn); sister-in-law Dawn; special friend Sheila Soper and a large circle of family and friends.

The family would like to extend special thanks to nephew Ellsworth Stanley and Dick and Sylvia Blackmore for help getting her to and from appointments, Bonnie, Rowie, Nina and Sheila who sat by her side when we couldn’t.  Thank you to the amazing staff at G B Cross Hospital with special thanks to Dr. Kelly Mitchelmore and Dr. Jenna Paul, her special nurse Nila who called her nan and to Pastor Andrew Ball and Pastor Julia Ball for their great support and Compassion Home Care for their care over the past two months.

Visitation will take place at Fewer’s Funeral Home, Clarenville on Tuesday, March 24, 2026 from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 p.m.  Cremation will follow the visitation with a celebration of life to be held at a later date.

    So sad to hear of Aunt Nellie’s passing. Her heart was so full of love and kindness . I fondlly remember many summers at her home in Clarenville . I always felt so at home there . Precious memories they will forever linger . Rest easy Aunt Nellie .

    My sincere condolences to the family. I was sad to hear of Nelly’s passing. I have a lot of fun memories of growing up with Nelly and her sister Madeline in Hickman Harbour. They were fun times.
