March 7, 2020 at 8:10 pmIt’s impossible to put into words how I feel knowing Myrtle is no longer with us. I’ve known Myrtle since she was born. I’ve seen her grow up and be friends with some of my children; her cousins. Then she had Adam and I had the privilege of seeing Adam and my youngest boy be friends. When Myrtle left “up across the neck” and moved “around the Cove,” it was very lonely.
Over the years we kept in contact and she shared with me how life was treating her. Nothing made me happier than to know she had beaten some of the demons in her life and to know she was enjoying her life with Gary, Adam, Norman and the girls.
While I never saw her as much as I would have liked to, I was content knowing she was being cared for by her loving husband, Gary.
I’m sorry I cannot be with you today. Please know I love you all and that I believe today, Myrtle is with Mary and some.day I’m going to see them all again.
Lots of Love,
Aunt Evelyn Oxford

March 7, 2020 at 8:34 pmI cannot think of my childhood back home in Cottrell’s Cove without thinking of Myrtle. While she was Adam’s mother, she was our boss and we best listen. She would firmly remind me that although I was not her youngster she had no problem giving me a “trimmin” if I didn’t listen. More than once I saw Adam run from her as she chased him. I stayed near her because I was afraid if I ran she would catch me. She was loud and you certainly didn’t need her to repeat herself.
Now that I’m older I realize she was doing it out of love and because we had her drove. One thing was clear, she loved us. That is even more clearer now as I get older.
While I haven’t seen Myrtle much since she left Cottrell’s Cove, the imprint she left on my heart was permanent. I’ll remember her and love her all my living days. I long for the day when I will see her again. Until then, watch over us all and wait for us just inside the gate.
Love to you all,
Brad Oxford

March 8, 2020 at 12:26 pmGary and Family,
Our hearts are deeply saddened by your loss. Myrtle was a beautiful person who bought a smile to everyone she came into contact with.
Although unfortunate circumstances bought her into our lives we formed a bond that ALS could never take from either of us, for that we will be eternally grateful.
She is now at peace as are you and her whole family.
Thoughts and prayers are with you all.

March 8, 2020 at 9:04 pmI’m sorry to hear of Myrtle’s passing. I remember growing up and going to school together. She always had a nice way about her. May those who mourn be comforted and rest assured that that in Heaven, there’ll be no parting there! All will be happy, gloriously, bright and fair. There will be no sorry, there will be no fears, in that bright home far away! God be with you all at this most difficult time!
