Passed peacefully away at his home in Elliott’s Cove, Michael Cook, age 78, with his wife Arlene and brother Jim at his side.
Mike was predeceased by his parents, Wilfred and Jean Cook, of Toronto; and his younger brother Lorne of Toronto.
He was a beloved husband and friend to wife Arlene for 45 years. He also leaves to mourn his pride and joy, son Daniel (Keri); brother James (Laverne); sister Sandy (Jim); sister Linda (Bill); along with a large circle of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
Mike’s happy place was on his sailboat. Mike and Arlene spent many wonderful days on the boat from 2009 to 2020 in Lewisporte, exploring the Bay of Exploits and venturing as far as Triton and Little Bay Islands. From 2020 to 2024 the boat was berthed at the Clarenville Marina, with sailing adventures including Traytown, Deer Harbour, Strongs Tickle and Round Harbour.
At Mike’s request, cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation, or service; however, a celebration of life may be held at a later date.
Heartfelt thanks go out to Dr. Paula Pye for her unwavering and continual support to us during Mike’s relatively short illness. Thank you also to Dr. Elliott (Clarenville) and, Dr’s Matheson, Hogan, Pace, Rorke, and Jakovac at the Health Science Center St. John’s, along with the interventional radiology team, and nursing and support staff.
