On January 10th, 2023, Lily Avery Kirklin earned her wings and went to walk with the angels at 97 years young. Born to the little town of North West Brook, she was known to all as a fun, loving spirit with a zest for life. In her 97 years, she lived a full and extraordinary life with a story filled with love, loss, survival and strength. A true beauty or Queen in the eyes of her family. She filled everyone’s cup with her big love, sense of humor and positive attitude. Lily loved to travel, dance, socialize and spend time with her family and friends. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, nan and aunt to all. The Matriarch of her family. She went by many names- Aunt Lil, Nanny Rousa, Nanny Tat Tat, Miss Hollywood, The Queen. We will miss her terribly and cherish our memories and carry her with us, always. Until we meet again, The Best Nan In All The Land.
Predeceased by parents Joseph and Sarah Jane Bursey; husbands Ernest Robert Avery and Vernon Sidney Kirklin; brothers Edgar Bursey (Albina), Lawrence Bursey (Theresa); sister Hilda Walker (Charles); infant daughter Hilda Diane Avery and son Lawrence Jehu Avery.

January 12, 2023 at 9:48 pmBertha & entire family,
There are not enough words to fully describe your Mom – known to me forever as “Aunt Lil” – but one thing is for sure – “BURSTING with Life” is what she surely was. From being a little girl visiting her & Uncle Ern at their at their home to the last time I saw her at your house in Summer 2019 – I swear she never aged a day – perfect hair, makeup, nails, high heels & alway dressed impeccably – she was a constant ray of sunshine. Forever with a BIG smile, BIG hugs & BIG love – she lived life her way – spreading so much fun, laughter & love. I am so grateful that my children got to meet her for several visits & will never forget her visit to Halifax with you all – those memories are so very special.
Hold dear all the amazing, beautiful moments & the lifetime of laughs & love you had with her. Hopefully those memories will bring you comfort on the difficult days.
Wish we could be there will you. BIG hugs.
Love Kimmie, Austin & Avery
