Lillian Joyce Goodwin February 19, 1940 - May 31, 2025

“To live in the hearts, we leave behind is not to die”. It is with broken hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Lillian (Joyce) Goodwin, age 85, at the GB Cross Memorial Hospital in Clarenville, Saturday May 31, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Pre-deceased by her son, Daniel Goodwin, parents, Louise and Charles March, sister Pearl Moores (Merritt), brothers, Ray (Violet) and Harold (Sylvia).

Left to carry on her memory, husband and partner in life for 62 years Lloyd Goodwin, her children and their spouses, Kent Goodwin (Carmella) Kurt Goodwin (Melinda) and Karla Goodwin (Dwayne) and her beloved grandchildren, Samantha, Brianna, Lucas, Kelsey and Kalan.

Joyce seized everyday as it came and was grateful to experience life with a positive attitude. Through her work within various Church groups, the Arnold’s Cove community, her love of music and helping others, she left a profound mark on those who knew her.

Of all the great accomplishments of her life, being a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend was what made her the proudest. Deeply loved by her family, adored by her five grandchildren who were the love of her life and many close friends including Betty Hiscock and Effie Wareham, she will live on in our hearts and in the beautiful memories we treasure.

The family would like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who helped in anyway to provide support during this difficult time. Special thank you to her long-time family physician, Dr Paula Pye and the nurses and doctors from 4 North A of the HSC and the Medicine/Surgery floor of the GB Cross Memorial hospital.

A celebration of her beautiful life will be held at a later date.

To Lloyd and his wonderful family, I feel your sadness and words are not easy to convey at a time of so great a loss. To have met Joyce in 1970 and to be a part of your lives ever since is a privilege and a blessing. Her love, loyalty, words of wisdom, faith and her positive attitude are but a few of her amazing qualities I will treasure always! Those plus more is what will keep you all strong and what you will hold in your hearts forever keeping her always present in your lives. Earthly life is temporary and just imagine the joy and chatter when we all meet again!!! Reach out any time, I’m here for you all. I’ll try not to cry because she is gone, but smile because I knew her. Thinking of you all with love and prayers. God’s blessing! Betty

Lloyd, Kent, Kurt, Karla and families. My deepest condolences I extend to you during this sad time. I cannot remember a time that I didn’t know Joyce but for the past 25 years we have been neighbours and I could not have asked for a more generous and kind couple to be next to. Every time I tend to my garden I will think of Joyce as most of my flowers were passed on to me by her. I will miss her calling me over to give me some little thing she had for the kids and even the grandkids, or just chatting in the garden during the summer months. Rest easy sweet lady.
