Kathleen Newbury July 12, 1933 - October 12, 2025

Passed away peacefully at Dr. Albert O’Mahony Memorial Manor in Clarenville on Sunday, October 12, 2025 Kathleen Newbury of Clarenville aged 92 years. Predeceased by her parents, William and Dorothy Canning; parents-in-law, William and Mary Newbury; husband, Rev. Ambrose Newbury; sister-in-law, Blanche (Edgar) Norman; brother-in-law, Neil (Jessie) Newbury; Rev. Jack Mercer. Left with fond and loving memories her children, Dawn (Norman) of Dartmouth, NS, Wayne; sister-in-law, Rhoda; brother-in-law, Gerald (Hazel); best friend “Aunt” Marie Mercer, special friend, Daisy Ivany and Scott Ivany (Thelma) the one she thought of as a son; as well as a large circle of family and friends.

Kathleen was born in 1933 in Englee, NL.  She went on to marry her life long love, Ambrose Newbury.  She provided a loving and warm home for her family in supporting Ambrose in his ministry in many United Church pastoral charges in Newfoundland from 1967 to 1995 when they retired and made Clarenville their home.  Her greatest joy came from her knitting, cooking and entertaining guests on her beautiful Apple Blossom China set.

Resting at Fewer’s Funeral Home, Clarenville on Thursday, October 16, 2025 from 3-5 P.M. Funeral service to take place from Memorial United Church, Clarenville at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 17, 2025.  Cremation to take place following the service.  Interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations in her memory may be made to Memorial United Church, Clarenville. The family would like to thank the staff at the Dr. Albert O’Mahony Memorial Manor for their wonderful care a special thank you to Joy Best.  Your thoughtfulness will never be forgotten.

Funeral service to take place from Memorial United Church, Clarenville at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 17, 2025.

    Dawn, Wayne and families, we are so sorry to hear of Aunt Kay’s passing. Enjoyed spending time with her and Uncle Ambrose when we lived in Clarenville. Our thoughts are with you all at this time. Take comfort in knowing that she is now at peace. Love to all.

    I recall encountering Kay at the many meetings and conferences she attended with Ambrose over the years. Please accept my condolences.

    Sorry to hear of Kays passing. I have many wonderful memories of when Rev Ambrose and Kay lived in Deer Lake. Sincere sympathy to all her family.
