Karen Pritchett (nee Noseworthy) died on Tuesday, August 6th, 2024 in a tragic car accident at the age of 62. Karen is predeceased by her parents Lloyd Noseworthy and Molly (Paul) Noseworthy and her mother-in-law Shirley (Caines) Pritchett . She leaves to mourn her “darling hubby” Gary, her “precious boys” Jonathan and Mark (Frederique), and “Mom’s boy” her Labrador Retriever named Buddy.
Also left with loving memories are her step mother Joan and her siblings: Kevin (Diane), Angie (Jeremiah), Max, and Elaine (Scott). She also leaves many nieces and nephews that she loved as her own and extended family and friends that loved her as their own.
Karen was a dedicated nurse for almost 30 years in Clarenville, NL. Those who worked with Karen remember her for her caring nature and for how she always put her patients first. Nursing was not just a career for Karen, it was a calling. Each patient (and colleague) was cared for as a family member.
Karen’s dedication to enriching the lives of others did not end with nursing; her cooking and baking was well known by everyone she knew or who entered her life. Always in the kitchen “banging pots and pans together”, she was happiest when she was creating and sharing the finest food with everyone around her.
In honour of Karen’s dedicated career in healthcare the family asks that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Discovery Healthcare Foundation. The Discovery Healthcare Foundation is an organization that raises funds to support healthcare in Clarenville and Bonavista. Please donate at https://www.canadahelps.org/en/dn/m/103433 in Karen’s memory.
Note Recipient Name: Pritchett Family
Email: [email protected]
Anyone who knew Karen knows she was a lover of all things colourful and bright, every year astounded by the “beautiful colours” of Autumn in Newfoundland. In this spirit the family asks that all those who attend the funeral or following memorial wear bright, flamboyant colours to celebrate Karen’s personality and flair.
Funeral arrangements will be announced in the coming days. Please refer to the Fewer’s Funeral Home website fewersfuneralhome.com for updates.

August 10, 2024 at 9:07 pmI’m so sorry! Karen had such a large personality. She made you feel like you known her forever. I remember my first encounter Christien was just diagnosed with diabetes, kindergarten . She waltzed in the room so positive, confident and full of life. I was a wreck! She said something totally foolish and left me with her number ,”call any time”. I thought she was nuts! I did call many times. Weekends, late nights, early mornings. She never ever complained and was always positive and witty. She saved me many trips to emerg from Southport. Then she became Marks mom, volleyball taxi, hairdresser, cheerleader and friend. We shared quite a few laughs over the years of ball, fundraisers and tournaments. Always there to lend a hand offer support and belly laughs. Karen a very bright light in a world of dimness. My heart breaks for you, Gary, Jonathan and Mark. My deepest sympathy!

When Our father started a cancer journey we were given Karens number – she treated us like family the very 1st time we called, she went above & beyond every time. She never sugar coated anything & thats what we loved- she was a true friend & never really knew us. The last time Dad got admitted as we waited for a bed, this beautiful person walked in – we all looked at each other – as soon as she spoke Karen??? It was our ANGEL! She knew Dad was very sick & stoped by to see him when she had heard he was admitted, ( after hours!) Condolences & BIG Hugs to her family – the world has lost a beautiful person & Heaven has gain a beautiful Angel.

August 11, 2024 at 12:06 pmMy heart is so heavy as I write this today. My heart is broken at this tragic loss that took Karen from us, far too soon. The picture attached to her obituary is perfect! Pure Karen, as I remember her! Her smile and laugh will stay with me, forever. Karen and I went to nursing school together, and along with a close-knit group of friends, had so much fun! A tradition at the GHSON was to randomly pick a “secret pal” in first year who would remain secret until the “big reveal” during graduation week – I was thrilled that I drew Karen’s name in first year (as we were already friends!), so it was truly fitting. Karen’s heart was so very big – she gathered people to her and loved them, and we were all blessed to have someone like that in our lives. From regular munchie parties and get togethers, to the fun that “our row” (who always sat together) had in class – we saw each other through those 3 years, and Karen was a big part of that. I was lucky to have worked with Karen in the OR, years later, and our friendship continued – she gathered me into her family and fed me, and when I needed my appendix removed, stayed with me, and took care of me (and snuck me in a Big Mac when I was hungry, after surgery!) – the stories I could tell would fill a book! I will end this by saying that I’m so very lucky for having known her. Gary, Johnathon and Mark, my heart goes out to each of you and I send you all strength to see you through these difficult days ahead; may your memories bring you comfort and may those funny and loving moments spent with her, each bring a smile to your face.

Such a devastating loss to our world.

August 11, 2024 at 3:24 pmDear Dear Karen. A light on this earth, no doubt. My husband and I taught Karen and her husband dancing around1995. She was such an energetic, happy, fun-loving person. She shared her dinner table with us a few times as well, welcoming us in her home. I lost touch with her when we left NFLD. Having a child with autism kinda changes your social life. I tried contacting her when I was in Clarenville 9 years ago but could not get in touch. Bonnie Tobin, another dear dancing friend messaged me about this devastating news. So not fair to take such a beautiful person away from all who knew and loved her. The picture above is exactly how I remember her. Love and laughter.
I’m just so sorry for all who loved her and so incredibly sad that I cannot see her again. She can’t help but leave a huge void in the lives of her loving family. I hope friends can envelope them with support. Sending my love to all who love her. Tanis Benson
