Passed peacefully away at Dr. G B Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, Joseph Verheyen of Clarenville, age 75 years.
Predeceased by his son Shaun Peachey; parents Peter and Mathilda Verheyen.
Left to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife Susan of 53 years; children Donald (Kelly), Christine, Antonia (Stephanie) and Sara-Beth; grandchildren Marcus (April), Alvin, Renas, Corinne, Isabella, Annalise, Julian and Gage; his brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Joseph was born in the Netherlands in 1950. His family immigrated to Ontario, Canada when he was only 7 years old. Later in life he met Susan Cox who quickly became his wife in 1972. They went on to have 4 beautiful children and 8 grandchildren. They had many adventures together including owning their own farm, running their own business and then they went on to chase their dreams in the oil fields of Alberta. In 2012 Joe and Sue decided to spend their retirement years in Clarenville. He remained there up until his passing on February 3, 2026.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial service 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 23, 2026 at Fewer’s Memorial Chapel with interment to follow at the United Cemetery, Hillview.
