Joey Emberley February 13, 1964 - September 10, 2025

It is with profound sadness that the family of Joey Emberley of Southern Harbour announce his passing on September 10, 2025, at the age of 61 yrs.  After a short but valiant battle with cancer, Joey passed bravely and peacefully away in the presence of his devoted and loving family.

He is predeceased by his parents that he loved so deeply, Mike and Lorraine Emberley, beloved brothers Eugene and Jimmy, infant sister Linda, sister-in-law Marg Williams, and Mother-in-law, Joyce Williams.

He leaves behind his loving and devoted wife, Wanda, who was by his side in the good times, and the not so good times, for more than 45 years; the son he loved so dearly, Trevor; his daughter-in-law, Heidi, whom he so admired and loved like his own; and his two granddaughters, Sienna and Autumn, who brought him pure joy and were the lights of his life.  Joey was also a loving and devoted brother and uncle, and he will be deeply missed by his sisters and brothers: Juanita (Paul), Nancy (Barry), Sylvia (Wayne), Randy (Chrissy), Mikey (Patricia), Maxine (Scott), Berkley (Reenie) and Darlene (Dan); and his many nieces and nephews who cherished his presence in their lives.  His loss will also be deeply felt by his Father-in-law Eldred Williams and brothers-in-law, Darrell (Sylvia) and Cordell (Gail).  He was loved and respected by his extended family and large circle of friends where he will be remembered for his humor, love of conversation, strong opinions and kind support.

Joey was both a complex man and a simple one.  He loved intensely and grieved profoundly, and his life was far from easy.  For the past 28 years, Joey committed himself to living a life of sobriety, and he was proud to both offer support, and receive it, from his friends at Alcoholics Anonymous.  He was a man of strong faith and spent much time pondering life’s wonders and challenges.  He loved the simple things in life, especially in nature, and found much peace on and around the water in his boat or by a river, admiring the flowers in a garden, especially his mother’s, and walking in the woods with Pepper by his side.  To have family with him at those times was something he, and they, truly cherished, because more than anything else, Joey epitomized what it means to be a true family man.  He was the constant that is always there to support and bring family together, and he had a rare and beautiful gift of making everyone feel special and deeply loved.  In return, he too was deeply loved and will be forever remembered and missed.

Cremation has taken place.  By his request, there will be no public service, and his family will celebrate his life together in private.  Donations in his memory can be made to Camp Delight, a summer camp for children with cancer and their siblings, where you can dedicate your donation in his memory.
