Passed peacefully away at the GB Cross Hospital at the age of 79, surrounded by his loving family.
Predeceased by his beloved wife Ruby; his parents William John and Laura; parents-in-law Moses and Pearl Spurrell; sister Delphine Simmons (Reg); brothers Eric (Beatrice), Jim, Lloyd (Bonnie), Allan, and Alonzo; brother-in-law Clarence (Jessie); stepson Glenn Cuff; and his dearly loved dog, Holly.
Left with a lifetime of fond and loving memories is his devoted partner of 25 years, Linda Cuff; daughters Laura and Barbara (Todd); grandchildren Cody (Cortney), Cassidy, and Tiffany (Jason); great-grandchildren James and Hailey; stepson Jeff (Nancy); and step-grandchildren Bella, Virginia, and Watson. Also deeply mourning his loss are sisters Millicent (Hector) and Francis (Lewis); sisters-in-law Joyce, Meta, and Janet; along with a large circle of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Gladstone spent over 52 years working in the fishing industry, side-by-side with his brothers—a career defined by hard work, dedication, and family. After retirement, he poured his creativity into woodworking—crafting everything from Christmas decorations and children’s diggers to his famous rummoli boards, which became cherished across Newfoundland and beyond. He loved sitting down for a game just as much as he loved making them.
He was a true outdoorsman who found joy in the simple things—berry picking, spending time at his cabin in Lumsden, and stowing wood, especially on a crisp fall day.
Resting at Fewer’s Funeral Home in Little Heart’s Ease on Friday, June 20th from 7-9 P.M., and Saturday, June 21st from 2-10 P.M. A celebration of his life will be held at Bethel United Church, Little Heart’s Ease, on Sunday, June 22nd at 2:00 p.m. with interment to follow at the Southport United Cemetery.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff of Brookfield Hospital, Bonavista Acute Care Ward, and GB Cross Hospital for their kindness and compassion during his final weeks.
Donations in Gladstone’s memory may be made to the SPCA or a charity of your choice.
He will be forever loved, always remembered, and deeply missed.

June 20, 2025 at 1:38 pmSo sorry to hear of Gladstone’s passing.
As well as a cousin, he became a great friend whenever we would visit Lumsden and offered us his cabin on the beach to stay in. Of course him and Wilfred had many things in common including fish stories. lol
We will certainly miss him. My condolences to Linda and the family. 💕😢
