Condolences

Passed away peacefully with family by his side at Carbonear General Hospital on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, Frederick Smith of Swift Current, age 81 years. Predeceased by sons Ricky, Jeffrey and Cyril; parents Douglas and Miriam Smith; sisters Marcella (Sam) Crann and Maude Smith; brother George Smith; parents-in-law Wesley and Alice Eddy; brothers-in-law Lloyd Sparkes, Clarence Eddy and Cyril Eddy. Leaving to mourn his loving wife of 56 years Lorraine; son Trevor; granddaughters Melanie (Derek), Kristian (Peter), Brooke and Hayden; grandson Travis and great granddaughter Scotti. His grandchildren & great grandchild were his pride and joy. He also leaves to mourn his sister Hannah Jarrell; daughter-in-law Gail Smith (Ivan), sisters-in-law Mellie Sparkes and Catherine Eddy; a large number of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. As per his wishes, cremation is to take place with a private burial at a later date.

We were so sorry to hear about Fred’s passing. May he now rest in peace and may the family fill the void he leaves behind. We will always remember Fred and Lorraine opening their home and porch, to us from the north, for an evening full of drinks and snacks.! Fred’s kindness and laughter will not be forgotten!

Lorraine, Trevor and the family,
My deepest sympathy to you all. I remember Fred fondly. We shared many a laugh and friendly chat when we worked at SCA. My thoughts are with you as you say goodbye. May you find comfort in each other and the memories you share.

So sorry to hear of Fred’s passing! He was an important part of my growing up experiences in Swift Current. We hung out a lot. He was a very kind and fun-loving guy and from all I’ve heard, he remained that way. My condolences to Lorraine and family as they navigate the large hole in their life with Fred’s passing. Swift Current lost a good one!
