Frank Beck June 23, 1945 - February 12, 2026

On February 12th, 2026 Pastor Franklin Randolph Beck peacefully passed, whilst loved ones sung hymns at the Health Sciences Centre, after an unexpected struggle with heart failure at 80 years of age.

Born in Spencer’s Cove, Placentia Bay to Heber and Dorcas Beck on June 23rd, 1945, Frank still identified as a “West-Coast Man”. He soon moved to Corner Brook, where he spent most of his younger years before moving to St John’s as a young adult. In 1975, he felt a spiritual calling to study to work in the ministry full-time. He moved to Ontario to attend Eastern Pentecostal Bible College where he graduated in 1978. While there he met his soulmate, Diane. They married in 1979 after what he always described as love at first sight. Pastor Beck and his wife served 43 years in eight different communities across Newfoundland. He then retired to the beautiful town of Arnold’s Cove.

Having spent many of his younger days fishing, hiking and swimming – he loved every opportunity to be outside until his last days in this world. He was known for his curiosity about a range of topics, especially in relation to historical knowledge. While not a devoted fan of any particular team, or sport, he enjoyed following sports-related news and would be especially enthusiastic when discussing the intricacies of a soccer game. He loved the ocean. He loved reading. He loved making jokes. Always, he was the man who wanted to stop for a chat with anyone – and everyone; he will be cherished for his charisma, his sense of humour, and his genuine love of people.

Frank leaves behind his beloved wife, and best friend (Diane) as well as their only child (Lori), who are missing him terribly. One of his life’s favourite moments were times spent travelling to visit his daughter in England, where she resides with her husband Ben – Frank’s true favourite child – and their two children (Este and Onyx) whom he adored. In his last few days, he often expressed how much he wished that he could hug them one last time. Frank leaves behind many family and friends, all of whom will remember his gently energetic demeanour.

Visitation to take place from 7-9pm on the 14th of February 2026 at Emmanuel Pentecostal Church, Arnold’s Cove. His funeral service will take place on the 15th of February, 2026 at 2pm – Emmanuel Pentecostal Church, Arnold’s Cove. With interment to follow at the Interfaith Cemetery Arnold’s Cove.

Many thanks to the incredible staff at both G.B.Cross Memorial Hospital, as well as the Health Sciences Centre for providing not only the very best professional care, but doing so with so much compassion and empathy throughout this incredibly difficult time.

His funeral service will take place on the 15th of February, 2026 at 2pm – Emmanuel Pentecostal Church, Arnold’s Cove. With interment to follow at the Interfaith Cemetery Arnold's Cove

    Diane, daughter and Frank’s family

We were shocked to learn of Frank’s passing. We did not know him well and never had the opportunity to live or minister in areas near him. But when we moved to Corner Brook in 1992, we connected with his late parents, late brother Jim and his brother Wilfred. My wife Gloria is from Corner Brook so she had the connection with the family from Westside church..

Please accept our sincere condolences and prayers for you at this time.

To Mrs Beck, Lori & Ben and family,

I want you to know how deeply sorry I am to hear of Pastor Becks passing. He was such a meaningful part of my life, and I can only imagine the depth of your grief. Please know that you are in my prayers during this difficult time.

I will always cherish the memories I have of him as my pastor. He faithfully served with warmth and compassion. He had a way of speaking truth that both challenged and comforted, and I am so grateful for his ministry. On a personal level, Pastor Beck was a tremendous encouragement to me in my own ministry. His example of steady faithfulness, humility, and love for people has shaped me more than I can fully express. Whether through a conversation, a word of counsel, or simply the way he carried himself, he modeled what it means to serve the Lord wholeheartedly. I thank God for using him in my life.

Today know that my thoughts and prayers are with you all during this time! And I will continue praying for you in the days to come. Also be reminded that God will be with you and he will help you each day! Psalms 34 tells us that “the Lord is near to the broken hearted”. Know that you can find strength in him for he is close to you!

May the Lord surround you with His peace that “passeth all understanding”

    With deepest sympathy and love,

    Pastor Tyler Gray

My Dad had always hoped that I would follow in Uncle Frank’s footsteps and become a minister. Uncle Frank will be dearly missed by family and friends alike. Diane, Lori, Ben and grandchildren,
I was both shocked and saddened to learn of Frank’s passing. Though it has been quite awhile last seeing you all, we have beautiful memories shared with our families together and our children playing. Frank was always upbeat and loved life dearly and more importantly, loved God. He is now with the One he always encouraged everyone to follow.

We are sorry to hear of Frank’s passing. I first met Frank in the early 70s in St. John’s when I was a student as we attended the same church. I know him to be very committed to the Lord through his faithful service in ministry which he did quietly, without fanfare, but with deep humility. May you who mourn fine peace a comfort in his Lord and Saviour and your precious memories.
