Eugene Kenneth Williams December 6, 1949 - July 26, 2024

Williams, Eugene Kenneth – When God calls you answer and when your wife, who is in heaven with God calls, you most definitely answer!  Eugene Williams of Southern Harbour, age 74 years, passed peacefully away at the Dr. G.B. Cross Memorial Hospital in Clarenville on Friday July 26th, 2024.  It is with great consolation we are certain Eugene entered eternal rest with the divine assistance of his beloved wife Margaret (who passed away just 4 months ago) and his precious great-granddaughter Jade Williams by her side.  Eugene was born in Rose au Rue and raised in his early years by his maternal grandparents Berkley & Theresa Williams who joined his mother Lorraine (Williams) Emberley and Lorraine’s husband Michael Emberley in reuniting their son with the person he longed to be with since her passing, our beloved mother.  To share in this heavenly reunion is also Eugene’s sister baby Linda and brother Jimmy Emberley, as well as his parents in law Denis & Maria Collins and other members of the Williams Family.

Although this reuniting is one of much joy in heaven, his absence on earth will be forever missed by his son Kenneth Williams and wife Tammy along with their son Kenneth Jr. and his wife Julie.  The bond that existed between father and son strengthened as the role of grandfather expanded to ensure those boys and their families were well taken care of and loved beyond measure.  Having much experience as being an exceptional role model Eugene continued sharing some of his greatest love with his precious Great-grandson Greyson Williams.  Greyson and his PopPop were like two peas in a pod and both loved to spend as much time as possible together.

Eugene was fortunate with not just one son but a second one, Sheldon Williams, the youngest child of the family.  The love and dedication, especially as Eugene’s caretaker in his most recent battle with cancer validated once and for all Eugene was loved, honored and treasured by his children and grandchildren.

Eugene will also be forever loved and missed by his siblings: Juanita (Paul), Nancy (Barry), Maxine (Scott), Sylvia (Wayne), Darlene (Danny), Joey (Wanda), Randy (Chrissy), Mikey (Patricia) and Berkley (Reenie) and their families.  As the eldest of these it was comforting to see the attention and care given to their brother during his recent illness and throughout the years.  May the memory of the love you shared strengthen your sibling bond to ensure you continue to care and love one another.

Eugene also leaves to mourn brother in laws William (Judy) Collins and Cletus (Eva) Collins as well as many nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

To summarize dad’s life in a few lines or words is almost near impossible and we can go on for pages about how much we loved him and he loved us.  However, the most profound quality of our dad was his dedication to work and his drive to provide and care for us, his family.  Our father always said he would “work ‘till he dropped” and no truer words could be spoken considering he worked until the middle of June this year.

Dad worked with Mr. Kevin Wadman and his company Avalon Ocean Products (known to us as “down to Wadman’s”) since around 1970 until this year March 2024, when the current management decided his service was no longer needed or required.  It would appear instead of an appreciation certificate an ROE was more in favor.  Despite this unfortunate unfolding and hurt it caused our father, we know he took great pride in working at “Wadman’s” or “AOP” with Kevin & Sylvia Wadman, Leslie and the other employees and the fisher people they served.  To those who knew our dad they knew how hard he worked and how dedicated he was.

Eugene will be resting at Christ The King church, Southern Harbour with immediate family visitation Saturday July 27, 2024 from 2pm – 5pm and open to the public for visitation from 6pm – 9pm.  Public visitation Sunday July 28, 2024 from 10am – 9pm and Monday July 29, 2024 from 9am – 12 noon.  Mass of Christian Burial to take place on Monday at 1pm.

There are No Flowers as per the family’s request but in lieu of flowers donations may be made to the family to be disbursed to a charity of their choice at a later date.

“Life is Not Forever, But Love Is…”

Mass of Christian Burial to take place on Monday at 1pm.
