Eric Shawn Peddle – Fewer's Funeral Home

Shawn Peddle passed away after a courageous battle at the Health Sciences Centre in St. John’s on October 15, 2022, at age 47.

Shawn was raised in the close-knit community of Hatchet Cove, later calling Clarenville home with his wife Nora and their two sons Luke and Kieran. A friend to all, Shawn (also fondly referred to as “Peddle”) was known for his cheeky smile and infectious laugh that left an impact on all those who knew him. He was the life of the party, lighting up any room he walked into with his jokes, animated stories, and signature “whaddya at.” Shawn loved animals, the Montreal Canadians, Tim Horton’s coffee, campfires, playing cards, being on the water, and building things in his shed. Always ready to lend a hand, often with his beloved dog Roxy by his side, Shawn was a friendly face to all who will be deeply missed by those who had the privilege to know and love him.

Shawn was pre-deceased by grandparents Annie and Alexander Peddle, Delilah and John Brown; uncle Melvin Brown; and cousin Michael Howse. Left with fond and loving memories, the love of his life, wife Nora; sons Luke and Kieran; parents Sylvia and Eric Peddle; sisters Tammy (Neil) Greening and Tara Peddle; parents-in-law Levi and Myra Churchill; sister-in-law Maria (Darryl) Drover and brother-in-law Chris (Renee) Churchill; nieces Sarah Greening, Katie Greening, Ashley Drover (Ronnie Power) and Nikita Churchill; nephew Jaxon Churchill; aunts Renee (Winston) Howse and Loretta Brown; uncles Pierce Short, Lindsay (Ethel) Peddle, Harold (Sue) Peddle, and Ron (Brenda) Peddle; special friends Bill and Elaine Smith, Duane (Alicia) Price; Dion (Michelle) Price, Matt Bugden (Jessica Smith), and Mike Lambert; dog Roxy and cat Simba; and numerous cousins, friends, and co-workers.

The family will be forever grateful for the first responders and the kindness and care of the nurses, doctors, and staff at the Health Sciences Centre ICU and the Dr. G.B Cross Memorial Hospital in Clarenville. While there are far too many people to thank individually, the family would like to send a special thank you to nurse and family friend Darlene Smith, along with the many who have offered their support during this difficult time.

Visitation at Fewer’s Funeral Home in Clarenville, Wednesday, October 19, 2022 from 2-4 & 7-9 P.M. Funeral service to take place from Fewer’s Memorial Chapel, Clarenville Thursday, October 20, 2022 at 2:oo P.M. Cremation will take place at a later date.

I remember his infectious Laugh, after all these years since we Graduated High School. Shawn instantly became friends with everyone when he started Elementary School in Clarenville. He always corrected me when I said he was from Hodges Cove,
With a ‘TAP’! On the back of my head, he said “Hatchet Cove!!”. Followed with a friendly Whataya at? My Condolences to All the Family and friends.

So sorry to hear of Shawn’s passing. The obituary beautifully summed up the person Shawn was. He will be greatly missed and has left behind far too many positive memories to count – the surest sign of a life well-lived.

Hope the family can take some comfort in how sharply Shawn’s passing has hit everyone who were fortunate enough to have him as a friend, even if they had not gotten together with him in a long while.

Please accept our most heartfelt condolences. Shawn was a very loyal guest of ours; everyone looked forward to seeing him in the drive thru as he always had a smile and a kind manner about him.
I don’t recall what it was we were chatting about when last I saw him in the Tim’s drive thru, but we parted ways laughing and smiling, as was his way.

I was so saddened to hear this tragic news about the man who I knew only as the sweet little boy with the biggest grin during my first teaching assignment at Hatchet Cove in 1979 – 1981. Looking through the scrapbook of my two years there brought back fond memories of all 16 of my first students whom I remember with fondness. My deepest condolences to Shawn’s family. Though I didn’t have the privilege to know him as a man, I know the boy with that grin who grew to be that man must have been loved by so many. I am so sorry for your loss.

I am just now learning this information. it was just a while ago i mean perhaps just a couple of weeks before the event at the Refinery .. Shawn and i knew each for years, at the time we went to college .
