Eric Penney December 12, 1956 - May 9, 2024

Passed peacefully away at the Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital in Clarenville on Thursday, May 9, 2024 Eric Penney of Canning’s Cove aged 67 years. Predeceased by his parents Enos and Minnie Penney; father-in-law, James Chatman. Left with fond and loving memories his wife Pheama Penney of 43 years. Daughters, Sandra, Tia (Josh); granddaughters, Chloe (Griffin), Trinity; brothers, Boyd (Dana), Nathan (Dora), Albert (Beverly), Alex (Debbie); mother-in-law Lily Chatman; as well as a large circle of extended family and friends.  Sending out special thanks to Edgar and Gloria Skiffington who made sure he got to all his appointments and were there whenever they needed a helping hand.  We can’t thank you enough. We the family would like to give our gratitude to the staff at Dr. G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital and Health Science Center for their care and compassion. As per his wishes cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place from the Anglican Church in Canning’s Cove on Tuesday, May 14, 2024 from 7-9 P.M. Memorial service to take place from the Anglican Church in Canning’s Cove on Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at 2:00 P.M.

    We are so incredibly saddened to hear of Eric’s passing. I think back to so many childhood memories and it is hard for me to find a kinder soul amongst the many who we were fortunate to know. He was kind in everything he did – always had a smile and he radiated positivity. I got the chance to speak to him last summer when I was home and he still managed to make a few jokes and get us laughing. I can see him now on the wharf puttering about. He was simply the salt of the earth and an incredibly gentle soul who always had a kind word for us youngsters. My thoughts and prayers are with the family during this difficult time. Sending love.

    So sorry for your loss Phema. Praying god will give you all strength to get through this difficult time. He sure was a wonderful man. I’d watch for his car every morning and whenever he saw one of us he always blew the horn and wave..
    Gone way too soon. Rest easy young man
