Eliza Florence Barrett February 6, 1955 - November 17, 2023

It is with heavy hearts and immense sadness that we announce the passing of Eliza Florence Barrett (nee Smith) of Arnold’s Cove, age 68 years.  She passed peacefully in the presence of her loving family at the Health Sciences Centre, St. John’s on Friday, November 17, 2023.

Predeceased by her parents Arthur and Violet Smith; her parents-in-law Benjamin and Alice Barrett and a large number of family members from the Smith and Barrett families.

Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are her husband Angus of 50 years; children Andrea (Scott), Angie (Dennis), Ben and Nadine.  Her grandchildren Brady, Marcus, Daniel, Emily and Brooklyn; great granddaughter Lacey; also her very special nephew Brad; brother Allan and sister Janet Hynes (Glen); and a large number of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Florence was a dedicated fish plant worker for 40+ years.  She took great pride in her work and will be greatly missed by her coworkers whom she loved like family.

There are no words to express our profound appreciation and gratitude towards Dr. G B Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville, staff of 6E at St. Clare’s and staff of 4NA and ICU, Health Sciences Centre for their outpouring support for Florence and us, her family.  Your kindness and compassion will never be forgotten.

Visitation will be held at Fewer’s Funeral Home, Arnold’s Cove on Sunday, November 19 from 7 – 9 p.m. and Monday, November 20 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.  Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at the Pentecostal Church, Arnold’s Cove with interment to follow at the Interfaith Cemetery, Arnold’s Cove.

As long as our hearts remember

As long as our hearts still care

We do not part with those we love

They’re with us everywhere.
