Predeceased by his father Rev. Guy Fowlow, mother Muriel Fowlow (Bishop), nephew Steve Fowlow, father-in-law Hayward Matthews and mother-in-law Janet Matthews-Forward (Tulk).

He will be sorely missed by his many colleagues in the medical community in Newfoundland and Labrador, the staff at the Arnold’s Cove Pharmacy as well as his trusted staff Rowena Wareham, Verna Nicholson, Sylvia Trowbridge, Sue Carberry and Vanessa Francis.

With humble beginnings Dr. Geoff was born in Burgeo,  Newfoundland. His father was an Anglican Priest, his mother was a teacher, and he was the youngest of two boys. He lived in various parts of the province as a child. He completed his Bachelor of Science degree from Memorial University of Newfoundland in 1966. He graduated from the University of Toronto with his Doctor of Medicine degree in 1971. He started practice at Come-By-Chance Hospital on July 1st,1972. When the hospital closed in the early 1980’s he opened his own private practice in Arnold’s Cove. He kept this practice open until the day he passed, after 53 years of providing care to his patients.

Practicing medicine was more than just a job for Dr. Geoff, it had been his life’s work. Everyone who had him for a doctor could attest to his reassuring manner, quiet nature and his effective use of humour when needed. His practice reflected a cross section of population and over the years saw generations of families come through his office doors.

He contributed to his community in countless ways through his volunteer work. From municipal positions, Army Cadets, advisor to the local Fire Department and founding member of the Placentia Bay Islands and Area Heritage Association just to name a few. He was always there to lend a hand.

His passion for antique cars was evident in his collection of vehicles, and he was always eager to share his knowledge of cars with anyone that showed an interest. Both he and his wife even participated in the international Targa race which was a highlight for them both.

Dr. Geoff’s care and concern for his patients, and his contributions to the growth and development of his town over the past five decades will always be remembered and honoured.

We appreciate that the void he leaves will extend far beyond his family and we can continue his legacy of kindness and compassion by following his example.

Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at Fewer’s Funeral Home in Arnold’s Cove on Tuesday September 30th, 2025, from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. Funeral to be held at St. Michaels Anglican Church in Arnold’s Cove October 1st, 2025 at 2 pm. Interment will follow at a later date.

Donations in his memory can be made to St. Micheal’s Anglican Church, PO Box 9, Arnold’s Cove, NL, A0B 1A0. Flowers are also accepted.

There are so many people to thank and forgive us if we forget anyone. Special thanks to the paramedics, RCMP, Dr. Gordon Stockwell and the Arnold’s Cove Fire Department. A special thank you to Gord Warren whose help and friendship over the years will forever be appreciated. To everyone who has reached out in any way to help the family through this difficult time, your thoughts, prayers and actions will always be remembered.

Funeral to be held at St. Michaels Anglican Church in Arnold’s Cove October 1st, 2025 at 2 pm. Interment will follow at a later date.

Deepest condolences Faye and family, I am so shocked and sorry to hear of Geoff’s passing. I will miss talking with him during his hair appointments, he was a true gentleman and had a great sense of humour. He was so happy with lot in life and loved to talk about hunting for “finds” for his project cars. He left a mark. Sorry for your loss.

    Faye,
    Most sincere condolences.
I first met Geoff in the summer of 1990 when I began my career in the ER at Dr. G.B. Cross Memorial. He would work every Tuesday night despite running a very busy family practice in Arnold’s Cove. We stayed in touch professionally for 35 years. He was always a gentleman. Never seemed out of sorts despite what may have been going on. I was also fortunate to experience some of the pleasure he had participating in the Targa Rally in his vintage Jaguar.
Another great physician gone too soon.

Sincere condolences to Fay and all of Dr. Follow’s family, friends and colleagues. Had the pleasure of having Dr. Follow as our Family Doctor for as long as I can remember. Even in his Semi Retirement he made it clear to never hesitate to call if anything came up. As everyone that had the good fortune of being a patient of his knows, he was a wonderful Doctor and an even more exceptional person. Caring, kind, compassionate, comforting and unwavering in his commitment to his patients and his community! He continued to serve his community to the very end and has left a legacy that will live on in the hearts and memories of all who had the pleasure of knowing him, for years to come.

Sincere condolences to Fay, Dr. Geoff’s brother and all the family , colleagues and friends on the passing of your dear one.
I feel like I should know this man to pieces as Fay was my supervisor in Public Health in addition to hearing such heartwarming stories about him. We heard lots of stories about Fay and Dr. Geoff planning their Targa trips, when we teased Fay about those cars going really fast she would respond oh Geoff is a real good driver.
On many occasions mostly in the Fall Fay and Dr. Geoff would travel [drive] to Pennsylvania and staff in our office were always treated with Hersey kisses and chocolates when they returned. For this couple there was much kindness , dedication and fun.
Big Hugs to you Fay , you will miss your partner, but may God give you extra strength as you try to navigate through at this sad time.
May Dr .Geoff sleep forever in Heavenly Peace.
    Agnes[McGrath] and Andy Careen.
