Doris Newman was born to Goldie and Malcom Edwards on a small island named after the family ‘Edwards island’ Doris Married Samuel NEWMAN of Fogo and they went on to have eight beautiful children William, Wallace, Heber, Art, Flo and Maureen all predeceased before her. She was also predeceased by one grandchild: Megan. Her parents Malcolm and Goldie. Her siblings: Pearl, Stanley, Heber & Gordon.
She leaves to mourn two sons Joe and Chris, her sister Edna (Eldon); Grandchildren: Jessica (Richard), Alicia (Zack), Travis (Stephanie), Crystal (Matt), Janice (Jeff), Sarah, Devon, April (Matt), Jeremy, Jamie, Dana, Trudy(Cyril), Darren, Barry, Samantha, Patrick, Leslie; multiple great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and a large circle of friends.
She lived a full 95 years, filled with many twist and turns but she faced all of it with love, compassion and kindness. She loved everyone who she met, and ended up with multiple ‘honorary’ children and grandchildren. All of her children and grandchildren have commented in one way or another over the past few days that she embodied unconditional love. She loved big and for that we’re eternally grateful. She had a special place in her heart, chair and bed for her furry companion ‘Muffy’
Nan had lived a life of devotion to God, and has held firmly in the hope that it would be a glorious day when she passed into eternity to meet him and her loved ones gone on before. There’s a reason why her favourite hymn is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pMPn0gTPoo

January 30, 2023 at 12:56 pmMy deepest condolences to all the family. She shared a room at the hospital with my mother this past fall and it was obvious how much she dearly loved her family, she talked about them quite often. Such a sweet lady. Alicia and Jessica, I’m sure she will be greatly missed, she was lucky to have you both to look after her when she needed it the most.
