David Avery Peach June 4, 1948 - August 7, 2025

If laughter truly is the best medicine, then David Peach was the town’s most trusted pharmacist. Born and raised in Port Morien, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia and spent his family life in Caplin Cove, Trinity Bay, Newfoundland and Labrador after meeting Donna, the girl of his dreams, while working at Woolworths on Water Street in St. John’s. David lived a life rich in music, Tom foolery, and love—especially for his grandkids (Aaron (Morgan), Logan (Leah), Kaylee, Sydney and Hyllary), who were his pride and joy.

A gifted guitarist and soulful singer, David could turn any kitchen party into a concert hall. Whether strumming alongside his good buddy Bill or serenading a room full of friends, he had a knack for making people smile—and just as often, making them laugh until they cried. His pranks were legendary, his timing impeccable, and his heart as big as Trinity Bay.

David didn’t just entertain—he connected. He had a way of making everyone feel like they belonged, whether through a song, a story, or a well-placed joke. His joy was contagious, his spirit unforgettable.

Well known in the area as the proprietor of DJs Variety for many many years and finishing his career at Clarenville Ford. He loved his Ford family and going to work there every single day.

He leaves behind a legacy of laughter, love, and music. And while the stage may be quiet now, the echoes of his voice and the warmth of his presence will play on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Predeceased by his parents, Robert and Una Peach and wife’s parents, Ab and Kathleen Whalen. Celebrating his life are his family Donna, Jason, Stephanie, Jill, Vic and their children mentioned above. His siblings Ron (Liz), Glen (Margret) and Wendy (Bill) His extended family Audrey and Alf, Harry and Liz and their families. And who could forget his very best buddy Bill Russell.

A very special thanks to the Doctors, Nurses and Staff at Doctor G.B. Cross Memorial Hospital in Clarenville. Your care and treatment was second to none. A very special thanks to Dr. Whalen and Dr. Stockwell.

Cremation will take place and celebration of life to be held at a later date.

PS. Dad. You did it. You passed first try with flying colours. Just remember that a popsicle can fix anything and that duct tape just means your doing it half arsed.

Sincerest condolences to Donna and families on Dave’s passing. We go way back to grade 2 when we first met at Gowrie school. Played Little League Baseball for one season, all we could play as we were about to turn 13 before the following year also played a bit of hockey together. Did more than one goofy through the years. Very good friends going forward till our vocations in life separated us. Always a joy to be around. Saw Dave for last time last summer, little does one know how and when things are going to end. RIP my friend

So sorry to hear of Dave’s passing. Always looked forward to his visits to the store when he would come up to Port Morien. He would joke that the only reasons he came back were chocolate popsicles and his mother’s raisin pie. It was always a pleasure to be in his company and he was a true gentleman.

To the Peach family, and all friends and family of David:
Please accept my sincere sympathy for your loss. When David was around you were always well entertained, and there was always something that he would do or say that left you laughing.
Growing up in Port Morien, I can still see him parked in front of one of our hangout stores, a car full of people, the guitar in hand, and everybody singing, even if he was the only one who knew all the words.
He was always a pleasure to be around, and will be missed by all who had the good fortune to know him.
