Passed peacefully at the Dr. G.B. Cross Memorial Hospital in Clarenville surrounded by her loving family, at the age of 71.
Predeceased by her parents Bride and Leslie Loveless, brothers Morris, Alvin, Garry Jim, sister Rowena, parents-in-law Ted and Gertie Walters, and sisters-in-law Betty Loveless and Nellie Loveless.
She will be deeply missed by her husband and best friend Junior Gerald Walters, with whom on May 2nd she celebrated 40 years of marriage; her daughters, Christy and Crystal and their partners; and a large circle of extended family and friends, including dear friends Mary Wells, Ada Strickland, and Pearl Loveless.
Christine was born on December 1, 1954, in Harbour Breton, NL and made a dramatic entrance to her home town of Seal Cove, Fortune Bay, arriving by boat in an Eversweet butter box. She was an energetic child who loved to be outside as much as possible. She was a wonderful daughter, sister, sister-in-law, and friend. When her mother fell ill, she became her sole caretaker for ten years. Christine met the love of her life Junior in 1986. They got married and had their twin girls the following year and put down roots in Champney’s East, Trinity Bay. It was the beginning of a special chapter in her life. In 2005, Christine and Junior moved to Random Island, settling in Weybridge, and frequently returning to their home in Champney’s East in the summertime.
Christine found joy in the simple things and in making people happy. She loved being outdoors, picking berries, going to the beach, riding on ATV and snowmobile, trouting, and returning to Seal Cove to visit her loved ones that she treasured dearly. She adored children and was a caring presence in the lives of her children, nieces and nephews, and all the little ones who were lucky enough to know her. She was a humble and talented cook and baker and was especially known for her amazing tea buns, hand-picked bakeapple cheese cake and blueberry and partridgeberry pies. Her late dogs Dash, Babe, and cat Patches, and her “precious pet” dogs Benji and Kingsley have held a very special place in her heart.
To know Christine was to love her. She was full of energy and always up for adventures. She could outrun her daughters, claiming she didn’t know what a stitch in her side was. She was kind, hardworking, and selfless. Christine had a beautiful childlike wonder and a gift for storytelling. She would often share unforgettable stories of growing up in Seal Cove, bringing them to life in her own special way. Christine genuinely cared about people and was always looking for ways to encourage her friends, family, and those she met.
Above all, Christine loved God and her family. Her life was a beautiful example of faith, perseverance, and love. Christine was a prayer warrior and had unwavering trust in God. She knew just what to say when someone needed encouragement, and always seemed to know the perfect Bible verses to share. Her memory will live on in the stories we tell, the laughter we share, and the love she left behind.
Though our hearts are broken by her passing, we find comfort in the faith Christine carried throughout her life and in the promise of seeing her again.
