Beulah Hayley April 21, 1949 - October 22, 2025

Surrounded by her family, Beulah Hayley, of Charlottetown Newfoundland, passed away the morning of October 22nd 2025. Born on April 21st, 1949 (but forever 29).

Beulah’s final wish was for her friends and family to find joy in the life that she lived, she hated the idea of anyone being sad and requested they throw a party instead of a funeral. The family has decided to have a Celebration of Life for her instead, which will take place on Saturday October 25th, 2025 from 3 to 5 PM at the Clode Sound Motel in Charlottetown NL.

Beulah’s impact on the world went far beyond what most would even dream. At just 15 years old, she attended Memorial University and spent her free time volunteering to help children with disabilities in schools. It was then she was offered the opportunity to finish her schooling in Wales, UK, where she continued her volunteer work and graduated with a degree in education.

Once returning to Newfoundland, Beulah and Wilson found their way back to each other, and were married July 11th, 1970. They moved to Ontario and in 1972 and started their family with their first born son, Robert Wilson Hayley. They later returned to Newfoundland where she had her last born son, Jason Mark Hayley, in 1975.

Beulah’s strength and kindness to those in need persevered throughout her entire life and career. She started volunteering on the school board in Newfoundland and became the first Chairwoman on the NL Board of Directors, spearheading woman’s rights in schools all across Newfoundland. She then went on to work at Cara House in Gander NL, which helped women and children escaping domestic violence. Although she retired, her volunteer work and passion for helping people never stopped. Throughout it all, she remained a member of the United Church and followed her faith and trust in God daily. It was her steady devotion that lead to her becoming the UCW president for all of Canada in 2018, a title she wore very proudly.

Beulah had accomplished so much, she loved to travel and had visited over 30 countries, but her proudest moments were home in Charlottetown surrounded by her family, sharing a meal on ‘The Point’ where Wilson built Beulah her dream home. With a fish pond and a chicken coop, and anything else her mind could dream up. He did everything he could to make her smile, and her heart fluttered for him till the very end.

The love they shared was like a storybook, exhilarating and extraordinary.

Predeceased by her parents, Donald and Rose Spracklin.

Leaving to mourn, the love of her life for over 55 years, Wilson Hayley. Her siblings, Margaret, Nellie, Larry (Jean), and Michelle. Her two children, Robert (Amy), and Jason (Tracy). Her seven grandchildren, Tori, Colby, Ashley, Madison, Tyler, Jacob, and Gabby. And last but not least, their chosen daughter, Wanda (Jerry) and Sarah. Along with many friends, extended family, and members of the community, who have all been impacted in some way by her kindness and generosity.

Everyone looked to Beulah for her wisdom and guidance, she encouraged everyone to follow their heart and to let God worry about the rest. She called herself stubborn in her ways, but to everyone else, she was strong and resilient. She knew what she wanted and she wasn’t afraid to ask for it. Her generosity, her compassion and her strength, will forever live on in the memories of those she loved and those who loved her.

Forever and ever. Amen

To Wilson, Rob, Jason, and families, my sincerest condolences, Beulah was an amazing lady. Lots of great memories come flooding back, of times at the shop and the motel.
She was always up for a good laugh, and had no problem putting anyone in their place.
Beulah was easy to take to, if you had a question about anything, she’d get you the answer.
    Thoughts and prayers, Craig (Herman)

Beulah & her family have always had little pieces in my families lives. From my mom moving to Charlottetown & working for the Spracklin’s, plus helping all their kids in many ways. Later I babysat Rob & Jason as one of my first jobs. Then her working in the Motel and dealing with all of us teenagers – to being involved in the community and later the church. She’s going to be greatly missed by all.

    To Beulah’s family,
I was so sadden to hear of Beulah’s passing. She was indeed a great person. Marion Stratton and I visited her at her home when Karen from the National was there. We had such a fun filled day which we ended with screeching Karen in as an honorary Newfoundlander . A new part of the ceremony (at least for me) was baptizing Karen in the Atlantic Ocean! She was a joy to be with and certainly was a great contributor to the life of our UCW , locally, provincially and nationally. I’m sure I speak for all the members who had the honor to meet her when I say our prayers are with you at this time. May you find rest in the eternal arms of Jesus.
